They don't renew the equipment and the same old machines still there making alot of noise when someone is working out. $49.00 every year for keeping the equipment in a good condition and is not true.. lockers smell really bad sometimes ,. I really hope if I cancel my membership they don't Tell I have to pay the next month Because when I signed up I paid the first and last month when they charged me, saying that's the way it has to be. But I know they always lie to the customers.
It's convenient, but lacking in free space and some better machines/racks, which is mostly attributable to the size of the building.
It's adequate and for the most part peaceful. Except Sunday morning where a young girl kept yapping on her phone and talking loudly. Super annoying. I wish the staff would walk the floor more and catch those type of things or clean the machines.
It's a gym and express location. It gets it's job done. Good staff, but the men's shower has no water pressure
I've been going to this location for years and now share my time with a friend at the Logan Square location. Equipment is well maintained and the space has everything you need for a full workout. Everything is what you'd expect from an Express (smaller and less equipment overall compared to a club) location
I have had so many frustrating experiences with Xsport in the past few months. First of all, I moved to this location from their logan square gym due to convenience to my apartment, but I think it is ridiculous that they don't have towels because it is an "express location". But the worst experience by far has been ATTEMPTING to cancel my membership. I went in on a Saturday, as I have no time during the workweek, drove an hour from my new apartment to do this only to be told that I needed to call customer service or write a letter. They also said they were going to charge a $10 fee (this was different information than my husband was told two days earlier by the way. He was told if we had proof of address change, the fee would be waived.). The staff made a big fuss, but made me believe that my membership was cancelled. However, I am still being charged by them. I just found out about this and there is no way to submit an email online. My Mondays-Fridays are PACKED. I wish they were open more flexible hours and would just be upfront instead of sneaking in charges here and there. This place has caused so much stress in my life the past month. I am never joining a gym again. I will run outside thank you very much!
Do not join XSport. This was my first and last gym membership. I decided to cancel my membership because I prefer running outside as opposed to a treadmill. I canceled in May which they said was fine, I would have to pay the month plus a $10 cancellation fee. I agreed to this and went on my way. Fast forward to September I look at my bank statement and find out XSport withdrew $88.00 from my account three days ago for no reason. That is absolutely an FTC complaint. I am in the process of sorting this out with their billing department, will update post if/when resolved. Let me say this one more time: DO NOT JOIN XSPORT.
Great staff but the ladies bathroom is always dirty and smelly. How can we fix this?? I hate having to walk an extra mile and a half to go to another gym when I have this one a few minutes away from my house (walking distance). It would be so convenient to go to this gym but the bathrooms disgust me!

Overall, Xsports are like the Amazon Kindle of gyms. It's cheap and has what you need but you are surrounded with nothing but ads.
The staff is great. They are all friendly and we signed up because the manager was honest with us about everything and helped picked the best plan for us. He didn't want to take our money. He just wanted the best experience for us.
The treadmills aren't the best quality and half the TVs on them never work but as long as I find setting to run on, I'm happy. The TV issue is more of a luxury problem that I don't really care about too much but I thought it's important to note.
Overall, I'm glad I signed up!

Manager lied about sign up fee. Charged when I was told nothing will be charged till following month but was charged a day later so I cancel my account and the guy charges me even after I cancelled. Manager is a lieing cheat and he should not be in charge. Called again today and asked why I was charged even after the cancellation and magnet goes oh well that's what happens. Ya great people working here do not believe manager!!!!
This is a small place but there's plenty of equipment to get in a good workout and the locker rooms are always clean.
Great place to work out. Trainers are dedicated. Can be crowded at times.
2nd Update - Customer service disaster. They charged my card another $10 without telling me why and after promising me a refund. Terrible - what is going on with my account guys? UPDATE - Aaaaand they charged my account again after continuing to ignore me for several business days - sent e-mail today to the reference with my phone number - still no contact despite following their directive. Let's see what happens in the next 24 hours before I begin filing complaints. Please reach out to me ASAP.
Original Post - I currently belong to this gym - I was here on Sunday, April 15th at 2:30PM. As I am moving out of the area (to a city without an XSport), I wanted to speak to someone about adjusting or cancelling my membership to fit my new location (I am moving in 1 week). The gentlemen at the front desk said he did not have any information about switching or cancelling my membership (although he tried using some tricky language about suspending/freezing my account - which I found to be a bit deceptive/strange given my specific need - I am moving out of Chicago permanently) and told me his manager would speak to me when he was available. The manager was sitting 2 feet away but was talking to another customer. I waited 30 minutes and went back to the desk - the manager was still busy talking to another customer. When I requested to schedule an appointment to talk to someone who could answer my questions, the young gentleman at the front desk offered to take my phone number and said someone would call me back. At this point the manager looked over at us with an annoyed expression on his face and resumed his conversation with the other customer. The young gentleman took my number and name - nobody ever called and 4 days have now passed. I am really concerned about these business practices and I would appreciate if someone could contact me about my options at this point. I look forward to hearing from someone at XSport about my situation so that I do not have to escalate this matter with consumer protection agencies. Thank you.
2nd Update - Mike from XSport called and is taking care of me. Will wait to remove this post once things are officially squared away. Thanks Mike! Facilities are terrible. Staff are good, but it doesn't matter when nothing works. In my year and a half of membership, I have never once seen all 8 of their treadmills functioning properly at once. Something is ALWAYS busted here.
No towel service.
No space to stretch.
Difficult to cancel membership.
Total dump.

Very good place..near train station "BELMONT"
Since my last edit to this review, I've been injured and I'm pretty sure XSport contributed to it. I tried working with their trainers on several occasions, INFORMING THEM I'M DISABLED AND HOW EACH TIME, and, each time, came away with my back thrown out and calf muscle pain, leaving me laid up for days afterward. Since then, I've made it to XSport sporadically on good exercise days, but I have back and leg pain similar to what I experienced there regularly in my daily life, and I didn't have these problems before I started working with them. I'm pretty sure it boils down to trainers not listening when I said I have a condition, and me trusting them as they pushed me into routines my body couldn't cope with.

Worked out there semi regularly for two years in between deployments. Cannot recommend after encountering ludicrous cancellation policy that requires you to either send certified mail to their headquarters or go in during peak work day hours. No option via online or by phone. It's cheap, but you end up paying for it in other ways.

Great equipment (Precore), friendly staff, but this place is kind of a meat market. The free weights face the cardio machines which means the guys are always staring at the girls on the machines. The bathrooms should be better maintained at peak hours.

Unbelievably small. The free weight area's floor is not level. Be ready to chase your dumbbells and barbells around the gym as they roll across the floor. There is only a single squat rack and the clientele sucks.

The trainers don't bother me which is cool but the sales people tend to forget who the customers are. I rarely get a pleasant greeting and almost always get a tough look from the staff. If it wasn't so convenient I wouldn't be working out here. The same treadmills have been broken for a long time.

Not too big, not too small, only really busy from 4-8 or so.
This xsport is great but they only have one squat rack and it is ALWAYS taken. They need another squat rack. Real bad.
Gym is great for basic cardio equipment and weight machines. Downfall is all the bros that sit on weight machines on their phones.
I have been going to this location for about four months, and I have to say I'm very satisfied with the gym. However, my only concern (a lingering issue) is that the staff never fixed the paper towel dispenser issue. That's a basic issue I believe. One barely works because you have to pull the towel as you crank the handle. The other dispenser they removed (it was the other one that actually worked). That needs to be dealt with rather sooner than later guys. Nevertheless, I love this place a lot and the staff are fun to get along with.
