Enjoy this gym easy for my needs. Would love some punch bags for every day use. Staff generally quite friendly, although overheard a personal trainer being very rude to a client once.
Overall it does its job!

3 stair climber machines, tons of treadmills, almost every weight lifting machine has a double in a different area of the gym. The kids seem to like the play room if you're in need of a sitter while you workout. Gym etiquette usually on point, friendly staff. I've only tried the yoga class so far, but overall I'm a fan of this place. Parking can be tight at peak times

The gym is really clean, the staff is very friendly, and it has everything I need for a good workout. There's also a parking lot, but it fills up quick during peak hours. Overall, I'm satisfied with this gym.

Nicki is an extraordinary employee at the Portage Park location! She is always helpful not only to her clients but to the members at the gym. She is very knowledgeable in the workouts she administers to people and goes above and beyond to get the most out of them. Xsport Fitness should model every employee after her.

I love love love THIS GYM so much, moved to suburbs and missing this place terribly. I loved everything there, and they have the best trainers in the world that do classes there. This place is clean, staff is friendly and to me this is absolutely the best gym ever.

Pretty standard big box gym with good assortment of weight and cardio machines. Free weights are sparse, however.

When I started here they said we charge for two month in advance and card fee.I got charge next month cause at the reception they lie and didn't explain me they charge for first month and last month of leave,Not starting two month. They also lie that you can switch to basic plan for $9.99 when ever you want and fail to explain that there will be another card fee. Don't believe them specially tall black guy at reception .

I have been coming here 4-6 days a week since the facility opened and I couldn't be happier with my experience. The staff is friendly, the gym is clean, and for a fraction of the price of most gyms I have unlimited fitness classes walking distance from my home.
Kirsten, Karina, and Becky have been fantastic and helped me lose 25 lbs. I cannot reccomend their classes enough!

If I could give negative stars I would , The staff was very friendly and very helpful but corporate billing was so rude and I was charged over $295 .00 dollars for a trail membership on my debit card . They still owe me $192.50 and will not refund the money for services that I did not receive. The banker at the branch I go to said they get 4 to 5 people a week with complaints from fraudulent charges from x sports fitness, and that is only branch so imagine how many complaints are filed each week for fraudulent charges , two weeks into my membership I walked in and signed papers to cancel my membership due to back injury and neck issues. And corporate still refuses to refund my money , the staff even said what they are doing is wrong and it should not be happening . I'm filing a complaint with the States Attorney's office since the billing department has such a terrible and rude attitude, I've tried several times to resolve this issue with them , but to take advantage of your customers and especially a person with a disability is morally wrong and disgusting . And all I was trying to do was try and get my back into better shape to feel better get my pain down , now it's more painful being out $192.50 for two week free trail membership , I would not go to this gym ever again and if you do you better watch your bank statements. There corporate office has no conscience or soul and are looking to rip off anyone who walks in the door , best of luck to you to if you trust them with your bank information...

GREAT! I went in on Saturday (with a free week pass) and the lady (sorry can't remember her name) was super friendly and took her time to explain things to me. I worked out and was impressed with what I saw. I have been to many gyms in my life and was looking for something that was more upscale. Yes this is an express gym so big deal if they don't provide towels...Hello bring your own! I do it all the time no matter if they have them or not. The gym by far was clean although I did notice a few members come off the treadmills and not clean them off. After my workout I decided to join and the same lady was super nice and gave me all the info I needed. I was interested in the tanning and spa and she gave me one week free. She told me to come in the next day and ask for another lady (sorry can't remember her name) she was just as nice and the lay from the day before and set me up in a tanning bed right away. When I was done I asked to see the spa and she showed me around and explained how each thing worked and what it was good for. As for the parking lot yea it is in pretty bad shape but you can find street parking or better yet drive slow and not like an A&& and you won't mess up your car. This is Chicago and there are pot holes all over any street you go down. Yes I agree that maybe the gym should fix it but give them time maybe they are planning on doing it. People should not complain so much! IF you aren't happy with a business than why patronize it anymore! Gyms are like Starbucks there is one on every corner now!

"Express locations" are just a way for this company to cut corners and not have to offer full services to their members. They don't tell you when you sign up that a lot of locations are express locations that don't have towels, or premium locations where you have to pay more. So even though I thought there were multiple locations in Chicago that I could use, now I'm finding out there aren't and I'm paying $40 a month for a gyms that I can't even use. You're better off getting a $10 Planet Fitness membership and brining your own towel, since that's what you're expected to do here anyways.
Their support team told me to contact them but when I did they just told me I should cancel my membership. This company is a scam and you should avoid them.

For the past 4 weeks the ventilation system stopped working. Not only in bathrooms but in the workout area the air is stale. Air conditioning works but is recirculating the air without any fresh air coming in.
Nobody seems to notice and care so far. I come here in Sundays when the is hardly any people there, but the breathing is hardly bearable.
The main reason i switched the gyms recently was the quality of the air in proud gym, so i find it a little disappointing here now.
Please have somebody service these air conditioning units and ventilation asap.

I would give it a negitive star if i could . If you want your bank account to be over charged sign right up . 2 weeks into the membership I was charged over $250.00 dollars on my debit card . Chase Bank said they get 3 to 4 people a week at that branch alone disputing charges from x sports fitness. The billing department has a such a poor attitude I don't know how the women keeps her job . She must be related to or sleeping with the boss . I hope she is better at that then treating customers with such an unprofessional manner . And x sports management has lied to chase and a reversal of charges is back on my account . No services were ever used for the charges they are billing me for. States attorneys office is being notified for charging me for service I never received.

The worst xsport fitness ever. Yesterday was my first day in there and last one. Inside smells like they never did clean. But the parking spot is catastrophic, big holes that make you scared to get in the parking. But unfortunately yesterday I broke my car wheel there so please if you have a good car and you care about your car then stay away from this xsport. I will not recommend this place to no one. One star with big minus .

The staff is very helpful and nice . I wish I could say the same for corporate billing department . Very rude and talk down to you while also talking over you . And over charged my credit card for services more than once . And they customer service acted like they were doing me a favor by looking into the over charges. Nice attitude corporate.

I really do love this gym! I've been an XSport member for many years now. And I've tried out a lot of different locations on the North side but by far Portage Xsport is the best. Their staff is always welcoming and positive. As gyms go it's pretty clean. If there's equipment that is not operating correctly I'll notify them and they get on it ASAP. I just wish that they had a rowing machine that was accessible to all gym members not just Xit members.

This review is for the childcare. The gym itself is very nice and overall the staff seems friendly, however if you are considering using the childcare I would recommend finding another gym. When my husband and I signed up he went to work out while I watched my 15 month old in the daycare so he could get adjusted. The daycare workers are friendly and greet all of the children and their families, however that is the extent of their interaction with them. They stood near the door and talked to each other the whole hour I was in there. At one point there were three children that were about four or five playing tag and pushing each other. One girl got pushed too hard and started crying. She came to tell me and the workers did not even notice. I told her that I did not work there and she needed to go tell them. To honest, she probably thought I did since I was the only one playing with the kids. The girl went and told them and they told the kids to stop playing tag and went back to talking.
When I went in to cancel my membership the manager said he understood my concerns however he has not gotten any complaints and this is their daycare that makes the most money. I find that hard to believe. When I went to cancel my membership I looked in and there was only one child in the daycare however the worker looked like she was doing homework and I saw her on her phone.
I understand that the daycare is only $15 a month however I would rather pay more for someone to actually watch my son and play with him. This is not a safe daycare and I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a gym with staff that interacts with and watches the children.

I've been to a class there a few weeks ago. Awesome instructor, helpful staff, and the front desk person helped me find places that should have had pools near my home and explained the differences between the gyms. He didn't have to do that or be nice about it but despite the late hour he did.i should have caught his name! Sorry dude! And it looks good inside, again the only sad part is that it doesn't have a pool or towels. But that is not the staffs fault of course.

these scam artists kept charging me months after i canceled. when i came in to complain, no one had a record of my cancelation. then i canceled again and 2 weeks later i got a charge for a "cancelation fee". when i tried to discuss this with the manager, he stumbled his way through the computer system and finally came to the conclusion that, yes, indeed my membership seems to be canceled. (thanks for the scoop) he offered me the xsport customer "service" number but i explained that they never pick up the phone! this company sucks! ! !
never do business with xsport! i will tell everyone i know. do not join xsport!

just my husband and I renew membership, enter first not let to my 15-year-old son for not bringing an I'd, I explained that the had already gone before.
to carry my son to the daycare, it told me that I had to fill out a sheet with my information, I did...
After that they needed my card to make the charge for child care, I told him that in that
time did not have it with me, allowing me to enter and at the end would bring along it, but refused.
Finally decided to cancel the membership because it is not the first time that this man gives us bad treatment, other times had already done it.
two people over there just looked and talked to each other and mocked not possible have a manager as well at a gym so renowned...
people should be in another place...

Pool is absolutely disgusting, but manageable if you HAVE to get a workout in. Decent cardio machine options (though they only have a water rowing machine, which is unfortunate) and the free weights area is sizeable.
