I moved to Illinois last winter and joined the boxing gym in order to finally cross it off my bucket list. The coaches are great, Jess knows everyone's name (even after a 5 month hiatus, she remembered who I was) and she is a great communicator and encourager. The class is tough but fun- a great cardio experience and learning the basics of boxing.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the coaches were incredibly helpful at helping me improve my punches and stance. While I do feel that this is an amazing place, I was hoping for a bit more focus on boxing techniques, and strategies but it seems like a lot of the classes seems more cardio-focused rather than focusing on boxing as a sport.
I joined this boxing gym in 2016. You need to take an intro class before you can become a member (times are listed on the website). It's not open all the time outside of class times, but once you're a member there are sometimes "open gym" days. A fun and empowering experience! I highly recommend it if you're a woman in CU.
Just moved to Illinois a few weeks ago and thought i would give this place a try during my quest to find a new striking gym. Overall this place is great for beginner women looking to get into shape without the masculine environment surronding other gyms. I'm only guessing that is why it is women only?? The owner is super nice and knowledgeable and takes time explaining the moves. Some reasons as to why I didn't give them more stars would be the overall bang for the money and lack of training equipment. Nearly $90 a month for 2 people, some times 3, to a bag is a little much in my opinion. I'm not a big fan of long breaks in between combos. Maybe the new space will be bigger, but for now, i can't justify the spend.
Jessie is absolutely fantastic. I came in with no knowledge of boxing, and she taught me to love the sport.
