We came with 12 boy scouts for the Climbing merit badge class. The entire staff was very knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. They did an excellent job teaching our scouts about climbing, belaying, and how to be safe so everyone has fun. It was a great experience and the facilities are awesome and easy to get to.

Our Boy Scouts troop had an excellent experience at Upper Limits earning the climbing merit badge as well as enjoying the facility during the balance of our stay! The staff was wonderful, especially Lisa, Abby, Evan, and Robyn! Our group prepared ahead of time, studying knots and climbing information, and the instructors built on that and greatly expanded our knowledge skill in helping each boy achieve the merit badge.
We hope to return on future excursions!

The facility is very good but not all staff is helpful. I took my son here to do "Boys Scout Climbing Merit Badge" last Saturday. Most of the staff who conducted the merit badge were helpful to the kids who have not done climbing at all before. But some (specially one female instructor) did not understand the fact that these kids were doing this merit badge to find out if they like climbing or not. Rather than trying to ignite a love for climbing, these instructors were quite strict on testing ability. If you are going to keep offering this merit badge, please review BSA merit badge objectives. Your job as merit badge instructors is to ignite a passion for climbing, not making sure they master the climbing skills on the very first day they try out climbing.

Great staff, all very social and friendly. They are very helpful and are not afraid to climb, jump in with you and give suggestions which creates an awesome social environment that's great for learning. Classes here are thorough and prepare you well. (top rope climbing class is what Ive taken so far).
Awesome gym which is unlike any other. The main gym has good routes not too hard to pick up on, nice boulders, and the silos are unique and an awesome concept. The store has what you may need from what I know so far.

Fun awesome and highly recommend for new climbers looking to get into it. Like myself.

We had our sons 10th birthday party here. All wild boys! Everything was really great and super fun. My only issue was that during our climbing time, there was a class being taught as well. The staff kept telling our boys to "be quiet" "calm down, we have a class going on." I suggest maybe not scheduling birthday parties during training classes, is all. One, it was a group of young boys and two it was birthday party! Things are going to get fun. Other than that, it went perfect!

Dangerous. Holds spin and the staff will explain that it's normal and that they cannot do anything about it. Every session 2 or 3 holds spin on me. Spinning holds lead to uncontrolled falls. Today I almost hit one of the lights in the silos. Staff assured me that holds will always spin there and that it's part of climbing (I have never had this issue at other gyms). Despite the last 6 months of me expressing this concern, it remains a problem.

I have never been rock climbing before but after going to Upper Limits I'm hooked!!!!!!!

Exstreamly nice and knowledgeable staff (funny too) they helped my friend an I get all set up!

Very clean and kid friendly too!!!

The only downfall I would say is I wished they had more to climb for us newbies hahah!!

I would go every weekend if it was closer!!!

Overall not great. Not really sure what all the hype is about. Its super expensive, like $20 for just a day pass. Route setting was sub-par, but the silos are cool, and they have a large outdoor wall. Would not go again, but interesting to check out

Our group had zero climbing experience and thought this place looked like fun so we planned a day trip.

The place looked even more impressive in person. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. We used the autobelay systems only and the bouldering areas inside and outside. Very fun and had some very challenging routes (from a noob standpoint). Equipment rental was cheap (10$).

Tldr; Super fun place. Would recommend.

The good: excellent space, high walls, and the staff have been very friendly.

The bad: I've complained multiple times about spinning holds on routes, and have sometimes avoided routes entirely because they don't get fixed. I don't lead climb so I can't speak for that aspect, but if it's similar to the bouldering or silo climbing, I wouldn't be surprised if some one eventually hits the deck for this reason. A spinning hold often leads to an uncontrolled fall which can be very dangerous from any height. Imagine standing on something, and then it's not there anymore. I've had this happen with footholds at Upper Limits. When I talked to staff, which I have on multiple occasions, I'm given reasons why they can't fix the situation. Reasons range from hold type, to wall type, to being short staffed. Until they come up with a way to run their gym safely, I'd suggest staying clear. I'll update this review if I see any improvement.

Update 10/11/17
The staff said they have changed their policy on tightening holds. I've noticed fewer spinners since then.

Knowledgeable friendly staff. Great atmosphere to workout. Lucky to have this unique facility in BloNo.

Probably the best place to go for rock climbing training/exercise without going to Chicago, or the southern tip of Illinois.
