I've never had karate explained to me in the way that Toru teaches. There is a clarity and detail to his teaching that is different from any other instructor I've had the pleasure to train with over the years. There is really something different here.

A great place to learn as Sensei Toru Shimoji has command over english and can describe the nuances of each kata/form [World Champion in Kata/Form]. Sensei Shimoji trained under Nishiyama Hidetaka whose Master was the founder of Shotokan Karate, and as such you do not get any closer to that direct lineage.

Our experience at Jinsendo Martial Arts has been very positive. Sensei Shimoji has a lifetime of experience and his teaching techniques are fun and engaging for children. If you are looking for a place for your child to practice discipline, self control, stress management and resilience through martial arts, you just found it!

Sensei Toru Shimoji is not only a Kata (Form) world Champion, he is also a forward thinker in the karate world. He blends his understanding of body mechanics, energy line principles and 40+ years of Karate experience into a beautiful package. Truly a Karate Gem.

I am so thankful that we found Sensei Shimoji 6 years ago when my daughter was 9 years old. Both the karate and life lessons she has learned over the years at the dojo have increased her confidence, strength, and discipline exponentially. It's been amazing to watch all the students grow in their skills.

My daughter has been training at Jinsendo Karate for a few months and we love it. Sensei Shimoji has a wonderful rapport with all his students (no matter their age) and has a team of fantastic teachers working there with him. They do a great job allowing the kids to have fun and enjoy karate and challenging them to improve their form and increase their knowledge.
