I have brought my oldest boy here for a few years and love the people. This is an excellent family dojo with the best sense of community I've ever seen in a dojo. Awesome for kids and adults!
I learned a lot here.
Great place to learn Cuing Nhu.
really cool karate. folks are nice and normal. no alpha-dog stuff, just great skills and workouts. fun social gatherings too.
I frequent this dojo often and the people there are always very welcoming and friendly. They really make everyone feel like a part of the family. I love this place.
I've been in this program for 4 going on 5 years and I love it. In November 2017 I will be testing for my green belt! Thank you Sensei Smack, Sensei Rachel, Sensei Chris, Sensei Doug, and Sensei Mike!
This is a non-profit dojo where the instructors -- all volunteers who have been practicing in the style for many years -- are practicing a "pay it forward" mindset, gladly sharing what they have been taught themselves with newer students. It is very much a communal atmosphere, where the students share in many extra-curricular activities, from cleaning the dojo after classes to frequent social gatherings at different members homes to traveling together to regional and international events involving other dojos in other cities. It has very strong ties to the local Grant Park community, but students come from all over the metro area, and are a very diverse group. Cost is very low compared to other, commercial dojos, and considering all you get it's an amazing bargain.
Lots of excellent skills and applications the teachers are kind and the style as a very good moral code
