Today I met a young man by the of Benjamin Miller who completely changed my view of this gym and which I have been coming to for years gave me a little hope. He was respectful, nice, freindly and down to earth. He told me that If i ever needed anything to let him know. This is a complete change of what I'm used to when coming here. Benjamin is hands down one of the nicest people I have met in a long time. Keep up the work the great work Benjamin.

Good gym but its just cleaned very well sometimes. I came everyday one week and saw the same trash next to a machine after i had notified the staff about it. People at front desk are pretty dry and unfriendly most of the time sadly. Besides that its decent.

Great location and nice clientele. Love that they replaced all the flat benches with adjustable ones. But even after remodeling, there is still a smell of mothballs in certain areas. Showers continue to be mildewy. Some of the equipment still needs to be fixed, a week after I reported it to the front desk.

Overall a really nice gym with a substantial amount of free weights, cardio equipment, and resistance training. The gym is well kept, clean, and does not smell considering the smaller size. This gym does not have a swimming pool or a basketball court, but does have a cafe and provides parking validation.

UPDATE: In June 2018, this LA Fitness upgraded a good portion of their fitness center. New equipment and treadmills. New flooring and wall coverings. A much needed improvement to the previous state. The treadmills still only get about 8-10 channels on the TVs, but at least they work.

The locker rooms could still use improving, but at least I know that ownership is trying to keep members happy now with the areas they have updated.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
For several years, I've been a frustrated member here, and I thought that ownership would eventually make a slight effort to improve the experience at this location. Sadly, they have done very little. As many have already pointed out the bathrooms and locker rooms are very ill-maintained, especially if you go on a Sunday morning. Clogged toilets, clogged sinks, broken locker latches, mildewy showers... many college frat houses have better facilities.

Then there's the treadmills. Today, there were 5 totally unusable treadmills. Evidently, repairing these treadmills over and over and over is ownership's solution to the problem, rather than buying much-needed new equipment. There are still other treadmills that are "usable" but other aspects of them do not work. For example, the front panel is non-responsive to button presses, or the TV does not work (not to mention even if the TV does work, it only gets about 8-10 channels). And still others make rattling sounds or shake violently if increased to running speeds.

The ellipticals and the strength machines are in somewhat better condition, but these are also older and becoming outdated.

So why am I giving the gym 3 whole stars? Because it's actually better than other gyms I've joined in the past (Bally, LifeTime, and Anytime) in terms of trying to fleece its members by selling personal training and upgraded services or by just being complete jerks. That and the price is affordable to join.

However, as time goes on, if the equipment is still not replaced I will be forced to remove stars and consider discontinuing my membership.

If it wasn't simply for being in a great location, I would've never signed up. It seems like 50% of any machine is broken at a time with "scheduled for service" signs posted on them. Looks like they may be finally fixing them, but their only solution is closing the gym entirely for 11 days straight. Staff is generally nice.

EDIT: After the remodel, things improved quite a bit. Much nicer and actually working equipment. Still cancelled my membership, but a bit better for the final month of it.

I come here every Monday for Julian's hip hop class. He's awesome, the front desk is always great and very clean facility.

Will be canceling immediately once my initial contract is finished, which of course to do they make you mail in a form over a month before your final month.

New place. Good look.

Worked out here 7 years. By that length assume that is a perfectly fine gym. Though equipment is regularly broken was never upgraded in that time period. Relatively clean. Has most of what I needed. It works. One star is due to bush league requirement for me to mail in a cancellation. This day in age it should be online and instant.

Love the gym! Love the staff! Love the members! It is a very professional and comfortable environment. I get a good feeling when I visit this Georgia Tech location. Chris, Jasmine and Ramsey are especially friendly and helpful. The trainers speak to me and make me feel that I belong to the community. And the eye candy is icing on the cake. They make you want to work harder to look good. Two healthy thumbs up!

I usually work out at this location since it is close to my job. After a few months some of the equipments are out of service or broken.

Fore example; the sauna room is out of service for almost two months, the shower pipes are leaking, the toilet paper dispenser are out of paper towel etc

i think, I I have to change my location to Buck head or Atlantic station or some where else.

Clean...friendly...not crowded. Stop by the drink bar and have a strawberry banana protein shake afterwards. Prefer the 5th st location.

At first the gym was pretty decent. The equipment was up to date and the crowd seem to work out and actually utilize the gym for its purpose. Lately, within the past couple months, the gym staff has become EXTREMELY lazy with taking care of the facility. The sauna has been broken in the men's bathroom for over 3 weeks, There are free weights in the locker rooms, the bathrooms never has soap to wash your hands nor soap in the shower, the bathroom stalls are missing, half the showers do not work, parts of the work out floor are blocked off due to what seems to be water damage, the smell is DREADFUL, and the staff has very high turn over. I am trying to continue to give the gym a chance due to the fact that the front desk people are still very nice but things have GOT to change if I am going to continue to spend my money at LA fitness. This gym is convenient for me because of where I live and its unfair for me to have to go miles away to another because of the lackluster attitude towards keeping the gym up to code.

It's a gym. It's what you make out of it. They have enough for you to get a great workout. Sometimes it'll be crowded during peak times, but everyone I've talked to is curious and will let you set in with them. 4/5 stars only because there isn't a pool.

October 24, 2017 14:31

Convenient location, smaller gym. Old equipment, and tons of "out of order" notes. The facility is ok, but beware of how to cancel. The make a chore out of letting go.

This is such an odd thing to complain about, but this location has the most unflattering yellow fluorescent lights and when I walk in there my energy gets completely drained. It's an almost indescribable feeling of how bad the energy is in there because of the lighting. I know that sounds like some hippy metaphysical nonsense, but I really can't explain how horrible it is. I HATE going in there because my mood immediately worsens as soon as I walk in. And if you are reading this review and scoffing at someone complaining about the negative energy of the environment from the fluorescent lighting, I totally get it; I would feel the same way too. It seems like such a petty and ludicrous thing to take umbrage with, but I'm telling you, it has to be experienced to be believed. I can't belabor the point enough. It's the oddest and most inexplicable thing that I have ever encountered in my life.
