I have no words to express what this place means to me. Truly a home away from home. It's a community dedicated to helping you discover and lean into your best self through inquiry, meditation, and physical yoga practice. Their response during the pandemic is further proof of how valued each member of the community is.

This place completely changed my life. I am so grateful for all the strength, serenity, and sweat that Shakti has given me over the past few years. The community taught me to be more patient with myself and enjoy the process (over just the outcome). The instructors are incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and creative. Highly recommend!

Shakti Power Yoga is a place where you will receive quality instruction and a powerful yoga class every single time. Each teacher leads a highly effective class which awakens the body and the mind. Most of the time, I am left not only feeling refreshed from the physical movement of yoga, but also feeling ignited by the community and the heart of those in the studio.
Make your way to Shakti whether visiting Athens for a drop-in or to find your home yoga studio. Either way, you will not be disappointed.

Shakti is a yoga studio where all people and levels are welcome. It is a community of people who encourage each other and value all the elements that a yoga practice has to offer. I joined with no prior yoga experience and was intimidated to come because I was not "in shape" but was welcomed and empowered. I have since begun my own yoga practice and am grateful for Shakti and would highly recommend it to any and everyone. I trust that the leaders in the community would embrace anyone who walked through the doors.

i love this place and i especially love Ruby Chandler, the owner. She's in the work which is not something I can say of all yoga studios and yoga teachers. She's created a culture of growth within her studio and I'm so lucky that I get to be part of that - to be led by her and to work alongside her in the work is an honor. This space is open, warm, and here for your feedback. Thank you Shakti Yoga Athens for being amazing.

I think what is best about this place is what it isn't. Many times yoga studios set very specific goals for their students. It comes in the form of really complicated classes and in some cases like Ashtanga alligence to only one type of practice. Often times Facebook pages for these studios feature instructors in Circ Du Solil like poses that honestly will not be achieved 99% of their students . Shakti is nothing like that. There is
1. a sense of acceptance of all
2.classes structured to be challenging but not rediculous where much of the class is in child's pose wondering why they are doing yoga.
3. A good sense of balance between fun and a ground practice
4 A fun atmosphere

I visited Shakti for the first time last night for Ashtanga Yoga and guided meditation afterwards. I may had never stepped through the door unless it was for meeting Ruby when I was running by one day. Her love and positivity are infectious, and the Yoga studio is no different. Even the students were coming up to me and asking me my name, I felt very welcomed right away. Annie, the teacher for Ashtanga, knew her stuff, and even though it is not my favorite kind of Yoga to engage in, she reminded me that every experience in your Yoga practice is an opportunity to go within yourself, and to honor that time. Taylor was the teacher for guided meditation. I am a regular meditator, and I enjoy the quiet time to just be. For whatever reason, I got the giggles during the meditation, and I just want to thank Taylor for being so understanding and gracious, she handled it like a pro and even smiled along with me I think. At then end, I felt expanded and my vibration and mood were up. I recommend this place to anyone wanting a large variety of yoga classes, a loving community, and solid teachers. Thanks Shakti crew, Ruby, Janet, Annie, and Taylor.
