The customer service is extremely poor. I left my key tag at home so I use my phone number to check in. The associate at the front proceeded to tell me that I had an account from Alabama and that I had a balance and did not allow me to work out. City place is a horrible location and I have been in LA fitness member for 15 years

Terrible experience! Membership staff is unprofessional, rude, and shows total lack of knowledge! Would rate 0 stars if possible. I am a frequent gym goer and needless to say will be steering people away from LA Fitness. Waste of time, will gladly do business elsewhere.

Usually don't bash places online, but this place was a slobfest. Free Weights were EVERYWHERE! When I say everywhere, I mean not only all over in random places on the racks, but all over the gym. Guess these people can tell you how much they lift but then forget the numbers when putting them back, if they do. No accountability held towards members not cleaning up after themselves. Leaving 100s of pounds on machines, squat racks and benches for others to put away. So this isn't a total bash on the gym employees because they shouldn't have to clean up after members, but I was there on a Sunday night with minimal attendance there and the place looked like it hadn't been picked up all day. Members you're at fault first. A few years ago was there and an employee was actually telling and yelling to people to put their equipment away. Wouldn't mind seeing that again. Follow the rules or leave. Should be that simple.

Great LA Fitness. The staff was very good. The only negative was that the weights had some rust on them because of the humidity and salt in the air.

I have been to many gyms in my life and I want to say it is the best gym out there! The energy in the place is vibrant! I definitely recommend this gym to anyone looking to get the best workout of their life!

By far the worst LA Fitness I've ever been to. Machines are generally out of order, and they don't have punching bags. After contacting LA Fitness, their response simply indicated they could care less about the customer experience (see picture of email response). By the way, as of March 24, 2019 still no punching bags.

L. A. Fitness always been a great gym. The problem is it located in a crowded street.. Parking? ?

Great location, they validate parking for up to 2 hours. Clean facility with good variety of equipment. 3 squat racks, 3-4 Smyth machines, 3 flat bench, 2 incline bench, 1 decline bench press... Sad thing is, NOBODY PUTS AWAY THE WEIGHTS.

The new managers have turned the facility from a two star to a five star LA Fitness. I love the positive changes they have made. I noticed it as soon as I went a few weeks ago after missing the gym for a couple of months. The gym is clean and the managers/staff are helping put the weights where they belong. I hope they stay there forever

Great place to get all your exercises in. They have all machines needed to get your workout in. They also have a pool.

LA fitness is the best gym in South Florida. I've been a member since 2005 and have been to many other gyms around as a guest with friends and I have not found another gym that has such a solid set of equipment. If you are looking for a gym to work out, not to tan, then this is the place to be.

It's LA Fitness. One of the better locations inside the gym. Parking sucks.

Been to alot of la fitness facilities. This one by far....the cleanest. Pretty well organized and morning usually isn't packed. Friendly staff. Can be a little tricky getting in and out of here if youre not familiar with the area. If you are visiting for the first time, may I suggest parking in the front and use the parking meters.

The location is perfect, parking is secure, staff are friendly, but that's all I can say about LA Fitness at City Place. Unfortunately, the manager does not run the gym correctly, but neither the one in Okeechobee Blvd. (West Palm Beach) nor Boynton Beach. There is no one upstairs supervising the gym; therefore, the members leave their weights behind, and they do not wipe down their machine after using it. The only reason why I go to this gym is that I exercise with another person there and she receives a discount through her health insurance. Otherwise, I would find a nice gym that is clean and has members that have etiquette.

Have been going to LA Fitness for over 3 months now. I had noticed for a that the bathroom showers were out of paper towels on several occasion and have voiced my concern but it has happened again few times after that. The staff can be friendlier. The equipment is ok but not so clean.

I am a snow bird who has been working out in many clubs over the last 48 years and have many good thing to say about this club.
Here is a small list of things I look for in a fitness club:
Friendliness & helpfulness of staff - 9 out of 10
Size of club to attendees - ratio - 8 out of 10
Number of machines & weights plus variety of equipment for club size - 9 out of 10
Cleanliness & overall repair of equipment - 8 out of 10
Being a big fan of detoxing and knowing that our skin is our biggest organ, I find doing a Sauna or steam after a workout very rejuvenating and I am pleased to report this club has a large good working sauna in the men's area. Also I was delighted that they have a number of Rowing Machines.
I enjoyed seeing that for the most part the clientele was serious about their work & time in the gym from the newies with trainers to the old-hands.
From my 1st visit to use a washroom, to activating a free membership online (No Pressure) to discussing further visits the staff was just GREAT. I especially enjoyed meeting, talking with & been introduced to other staff by Antwaine. Kudos to you all.

I go to this gym because it is close to work other than that the facility itself is not the best. Weights tend to be there more often than not but that is about the only thing. They removed all but one punching bag from their upstairs room as well the men's sauna is broken about once every month or so as well the sauna door (mens lockeroom) has been broken for about 2 - 3 weeks and now it actually seems to be on the verge of falling off. Hopefully they get it fixed before it falls on someone. They do have a few good staff members and for that here are two stars.

Easily one of the worst gyms I've been to for the price. The man who appears to be the manager (I've seen him at other locations as well), is incredibly rude. My girlfriend was thinking of signing up and he was being extremely condescending about our previous gym memberships simply because they weren't LA Fitness, among other things. She ended up not buying a membership because of this - and it appears that other people have similar experiences.

The gym itself is pretty terrible as well. The same guy bragged that they have X amount of floor space, but the entire first floor is only office space, lockers, and spin classroom. And the at least half of the second floor is taken up by a classroom area, stairs, and a ridiculous amount of cardio machines. The functional space in the gym is very tiny and often very cluttered. They lack some major equipment and most of their machines are very, VERY poorly maintained. The majority of the machines have malfunctions, including the numbers on the weights being warn completely off - then they occasionally sloppily write the numbers directly onto the weights with chalk, instead of ordering a pack of stickers from the manufacturer. The gym itself is often quite clean, the janitorial staff do a good job, despite the equipment being junk.

Overall, it is a huge waste of money to come to LA fitness rather than other commercial gyms. For instance, LA fitness charges $30 a month for one base membership, whereas Youfit is $20 a month for the premium membership and unlimited guest pass. All for about the same amount of value, depending on the location - with some locations even surpassing the far more expensive LA fitness. I would certainly NOT go to this gym if I didn't live very close to it. I have often even gone to other commercial gyms, despite having an LA Fitness membership, simple because it is a better experience.

So I'm on trying out the fitness center on the Guest Pass that on their website says 'The pass is valid for 5 consecutive days'. As soon as you walk in to activate the pass you are pulled into a table by a sales rep to talk you into a membership and lied to that the Pass is for 4 days... I don't know the guys name but he is African American.
After the 1st class he tried to have me sign up, again. Went back the 2nd day to try a Yoga class and as soon as I went downstairs he waved me over to his desk and wanted me to sign up. I told him I'm in a hurry and not ready to sign up yet. He then said 'You don't have 2 minutes?... THEN he made a face and the next comment that came out of his mouth pissed me off. He said 'Didn't you like the class? You already tried 2' so basically I'm now obligated to sign up!? After he said that I really got mad and told him I do not like being pressured into something I'm not ready to commit to after 2 classes. I actually want to take advantage of the 5 day trial and try different trainers classes to see if it fits me - Because guess what, there are other fitness companies in town too. This aggressive pressuring tactic might work on some people but it does not work on me! It is making me reconsider LA Fitness altogether. I hope the sales guy reads this and learns from his mistakes with me. And I even understand that it's his job to have people sign up but the simple truth is that you don't have to be an ass about how you do it.

I called in my local LA Fitness in West Palm Beach, FL on 700 S Rosemary Ave in order to add a family member to my membership; However, I was treated poorly and very rude by the Sales person and the actual Manager Chris who hang up on me once he realized I was calling Member services in order to clarify what I was told regarding their current promotion.
This was supposed to be a simple sale for them, but it turned out to be an eye opening on how rude and unprofessional Chris from LA Fitness at City Place is. Keep in mind that all of this is happening with no cursing, no yelling, or even myself expressing anything bad as many customers would do.

I actually wanted to add a family into mine nor to Cancel my membership, yet they were unable to take care of such a simple task which I could have done online without having to deal with uneducated and rude employees at the Rosemary location.

No wonder why they have 3.0 ratings, and tons of negatives reviews all over the Internet and then they are trying to sell memberships up to the nose on the streets by City Place just to be able to pay their lease at City Place, but they way Chris and their team are handling this business, I don't see them lasting for too long at this location.

Do not sign up with LA Fitness, it doesn't seem they would want your business anyway. The person at Corporate didn't have a problem cancelling my membership when I asked, he just cancelled it right away instead of resolving the situation and compensating for their lack of professionalism, but believe me, most of them would end up without a job based on how they continue to lose customers due to being rude, and their decaying locations.

There are other gyms out there that would be happy to sell their services to good customers like myself such as Crunch, 24 Hours Fitness and many others.

Seems like a lot of reviews are disputes about money ($), or people's subjective experiences related to EGO's clashing. Let's be adults here and not set our expectations so high. This is a GYM to workout and keep your health and fitness in check! If a person keeps focused on the end goals, like supreme quality of existence, then they can do it at this uncluttered gym. It has everything you need other than racket sports. But if you want Personal Training, then don't judge unless you've tried it. I took it for 1.5 years and it started me up again after a long hiatus and I never quit since! Don't knock it til ya try it!

My friend and I went there to work out. The CEO of that location happened to be there. My friend had on a t-shirt that had a small LA Fitness Logo on it which was given to him from a friend. The CEO of the place walked up to my friend and said "Take off that shirt now" which was incredibly rude, disrespectful, embarrassing and out the blue. We just looked at him like, what? He said "that was the shirts the employees used to wear years ago so take it off." The logo is about two inches big on the front corner of the shirt and nothing else is written on it. We were shocked as to how he said it. He acted as if he had on an offensive shirt with profanity. It did NOT have a Trainer or any words on it, all it said was, LA Fitness. You can read the previous comments from how rude management is, it explains as to why this issue hasn't been fixed as the owner has the same nasty attitude. If he would have told us that the shirt could mislead some of the customers who've been there for years and to turn it inside out, that would have been understandable. But to outright walk up to someone, without introducing themselves and saying to take off your shirt, was not only disrespectful but weird as hell. And his attitude was uncalled for.

I would give this place the lowest of low in reviews. 0 stars --

Sign up process is very easy as they take your money, canceling process is impossible. I have called the place, tried online, and gone to the facility in person to speak with operations manager. I was told my account was cancelled but they still charge it monthly. I even changed my credit card number but they can still process payment to your new card bc of social security number on file . I have gone to the point of filing a claim with credit card company to block them!

BE CAREFUL!!! Very shady practices. They should be investigated again by VICE or some news agency to shed light on their practices. Its not the first time this has happened either and apparently happens to everyone else.

The facility itself is new and has decent equipment. It gets very crowded at peak times and the parking garage is a bit of a nightmare. However there customer service and shady practices means this place deserves minus stars.
