I have been going to the Cheng Tai Chi morning class for approximately 6 months. Cifu Grant is an inspirational young man that not only demonstrates the forms in Tai Chi, but gets the class involved in looking at and learning about the theoretical/philosophical underpinnings of this martial art.
He is also well aware of some physical limitations that us older folk ( I am 64)have, and always insist that we "enjoy getting there" and not stress out.
I have been involved in other martial arts in my life that seemed more of indoctrination events with a lot of aggressive physical hurt . Tai Chi is a beautiful art that has helped me with my balance and with my patience.
If you are of the third age , or a parents of a small child I can recommend Darsana with absolutely no reservations!

Absolutely love this place! The gentleman (Grant) that runs this place is very nice and patient! My daughter (5yr) loves coming and is super excited every time we come. He's wonderful with the kids and they always seem to have a great time!
My son started training at Darsana 5 years ago. In that time, he has steadily progressed in his practice and has applied the things he has learned at Darsana to other parts of his life, which is very rewarding as a parent to witness first hand.
My son's continued practice inspired me to return to the mat myself about 3 years ago, both in Tai Chi and Kung Fu. This gave me, among other benefits, the opportunity to work directly with my son and provides us with an ongoing and important bond between us. Darsana is a great training environment whether for children or adults.
Found this place on Groupon. Awesome! We love th smaller classes & how The instructor is very hands on with each student. The environment is very welcoming, clean and organized!

Darsana has renewed my interest in Tai Chi. I enjoy the structure of the class, where students start their exercises in a group, and then break away for individual practice, with roving individual instruction to help perfect their steps and to learn each next step.
The instructor presents information in a variety of ways: demonstration, verbal instruction, use of props that help align posture or demonstrate motion, and hands on correction of position and alignment. This allows students to absorb the information in the way they best understand it, which is very important since we all have different learning styles.
It is clear from the quality of instruction that the instructor has an excellent understanding of his craft. He offers deeper understanding when questions are raised, and has a gift for teaching.
Wish I could transport the school to Malta, NY so I can continue. I've taken Tai Chi for several years, but usually in the context of 4 to 8 week classes given once a week, in sessions I join two or three times a year. The continuity at Darsana, with practice twice or more a week, works much better for me.
Hope to see you at Darsana next year!
I've been a Tai Chi student of Grant for a few years now; that alone speaks volumes. More specifically, the obvious depth of his expertise and knowledge reflect his many years of study, reflection, and practice. His teaching style and methods are not only consistent with this eastern philosophy but also remain flexible and most importantly, student focused.
My son and I both attend classes at Darsana. It is a very small studio which has a lot of pros. Sifu is very kind and makes the martial arts class for kids super fun. My son is usually super lazy but he feels motivated to be on time and to participate. There is a lot of attention individually in the group classes and the instructor makes sure people understand right postures and is very detail oriented.
Both of my children have taken classes here. Shifu (who the kids think is just the coolest guy ever) is just the right balance of nurturing, fun and discipline. Focus is on internal resilience, personal bests, and character-building (at least for the littler ones), not competition. Very highly recommended.
Hard to say, as I left a couple of messages and no one ever got back to me.

I've had the pleasure of taking yoga classes with Grant for over a year! Grant explains every movement and the benefits of yoga very well. He is a true master of his art. I highly recommend Darsana Martial Arts!
A wonderful place to train at. They have classes for all ages. My daughter is 3, and really enjoys the kid's martial arts class. The yoga is very relaxing, as well as, energizing. You work hard, and feel great afterwards.
