Incredible atmosphere. Real weights, real people, real good. Just started up so improvements are needed, but improvements are being made everyday. The team is coming together.

Great place to work out, has everything I need. Staff members are really nice.

Very shady business. I am not surprised Golds is closed down. They transferred all membership to their new location, Powerhouse Gym, which is a disaster. Nothing is done, the floors are ripped up, the ceiling is falling out in multiple spots, and overall, the place should not be a gym in general. I cancelled my membership immediately and joined You Fit. A little farther from campus but definitely worth it.

I stayed at this gym for two years.

I absolutely would not do it again.

The early morning staff seems to be the only pleasant staff members. Honestly, the two guys that work the morning are amazing workers. They always make me feel like they care about my experience in the gym. The other staff gets visibly frustrated when asked to do their job. It would be a struggle for them to act any less interested in customers.

The equipment is in a constant state of disrepair and about half of the equipment which requires a pin (to secure the weight) is missing the head of the pin. This means frequently you are not afforded the luxury of adjusting the equipment which you pay to use.

Gum and preworkout residue will sit in the water fountains for weeks.

There has been a hole in he ceiling for three months.

This gym is not a gym which thrives on customer retention. They seem to stay in business by enrolling new college students at the start of the fall and spring semester. As such, they are less motivated to keep your business than they are to sign you up.

Many times I have found myself with the urge to workout, but have not, because of the atmosphere in this gym.

This is not a good gym.

I've trained in some outstanding gyms over the years, so my standards are pretty high. That said, I prefer meathead gyms as they are a joy to train in, but this one has some problems. I mostly lift weights and this gym has some decent equipment, but could stand to add a few more plate loaded pieces for leg and back training to reduce waiting times for frequently used equipment. The cardio area needs to be curated--there are far too many arc trainers that are hardly used during peak hours and take up valuable space. Strict rules need to be enforced in order to create an enjoyable experience, lest current members will take their business elsewhere. For example, no one should have to waste 10 minutes tracking down a set of dumbbells because someone did not put them back in their place. This is far too common and is incredibly frustrating for members. Please don't assume people know proper gym etiquette and post rules everywhere! I'll end on a positive note: the staff are great...including Eric.

The night manager Eric is rude and unprofessional, I have had several dealings with him just going about my workout that have soured my experience there. Previously I even tried to get a friend to sign up so we could workout together but Eric ruined everything by giving him a crappy deal, getting angry when my friend was unsatisfied with the price and telling him he could go workout somewhere else if he didn't like it and on top of that criticizing his commitment and strength for not signing up. His unprofessional attitude and arrogant and unwelcoming demeanor lost him not only my friends potential membership, but mine as well. This was months ago, I now work out at another gym and the difference in staffing is night and day. Gold's has a lot more equipment than it used to due to the Appalachee Gold's closing, but the free weights are rusty and run down. Even in Tallahassee you can do better. Find someplace that actually wants to earn and keep your business and cares about the members.

Staff is horribly ignorant and just want the free memberships. Terribly rude and unprofessional when handling any question signing up. Know little to nothing about healthy living or exercising or their gym or their machines. I joined looking for a well known brand machine, staff had no clue what I was talking about, turns out the machines are directly across from the front desk. Absolutely nothing special about this place unless you're on 'roids or want to look like such.

I came. I finished my workout and left. The equipment, showers were in good working condition. The employees were friendly, professional and offered encouragement.

This is your only warning - join any other gym besides Gold's Gym in Tallahassee! They act so kind and helpful when you're signing up, but once you try to cancel they will become rude, unprofessional, and down right mean. I was charged for three months after canceling my membership and when confronting a manager about it was waved off and told he "didn't have time to deal with me" and to "go on my way". Disgusted by the treatment of the staff and lack of professionalism at this location.

Extremely rude staff, overpriced, and 1/3 the size of a regular Gold's Gym. The sales person was extremely manipulative and rude, and when I wasn't ready to commit to dropping a bunch of money he aggressively shoved his papers back into his folder, got up, said "I was just trying to help you" (manipulative tactic, he was just trying to make me commit to money I did not have), and stormed off in a huff like a child. I am a responsible adult, I will not commit to money I do not have in hand today, no matter how much manipulation and aggressive sales tactics anyone uses. Now, I'm almost 40, but I can see where he would easily push someone younger around, probably makes him feel big, but I am grown enough to see through it. I love Gold's, but seriously, don't pay full price for half a gym with rude manipulative employees. There are several complaints about the employees behavior and it persists, so that tells me the owner doesn't care about how his staff treats people. It's half the size and twice the price of PF, and the staff at PF are all very nice.

This is the last location for Gold's Gym in Tallahassee, Florida. This Gold's has a large gym footprint similar to an LA Fitness layout. It is close to the University (FSU) and has good hours. Day passes are available for out of town guest. For the overall expense, it is a good deal since there are not many larger gyms located in Tallahassee at this time. I would recommend it for heavy lifting, cardio and the staff is polite and kind. This always helps!

I left FSU/Tally in 2013. Just in the past month this gym has reached out to me saying I have a $220 debt with them that is going to be sent to collections. I don't recall this charge and I am not going to pay it. Contacting me four years later feels like a scam, how can I know it isn't some made up charge? Reading the other reviews sounds like this gym has really gone downhill since I went there. Seems like from reviews they now commonly scam people so be warned.

I came. I worked out. I exited to continue my day. The equipment, showers were in good working condition. The employees were friendly, professional.

May 14, 2018 09:44

It's a gym... lol. Ummmm... they hit you with sneaky fees. I had to end my membership a looonnngg time ago.

May 6, 2018 22:04

Edit:

This gym has been struggling. Unclean, equipment in disrepair, and not true 24 hours. After the December Gold's equipment fee steal, they better have new equipment. STEP IT UP. Especially for New Year's, this is disappointing.

---------

Their workout music choices are awful! This morning they played the following in order:

All of Me - John Legend
White Flag - Dido
Drops of Jupiter - Train
Hey Ya - Outkast

This is a gym, not a Department Store.

I had a terrible experience at golds gym today. I was going to sign up and get a membership, but one of their managers was incredibly rude to me and one of their members. We were asking about a plus one and the manger was very rude, short, and passive aggressive. This golds gym is the opposite of welcoming and made me feel very uncomfortable!

This is my first month at Gold's, and I love the place. It has a great, serious atmosphere, nice genuine emplpyees, and good equipment (maybe a little aged, but MUCH variety - they offer more for bodybuilders than the Leach).
I see a lot of people complaining about being charged after they cancel, being charged for 3 months when they sign up, and being charged for the annual fee. However, they informed me about all that when I signed up. You must fill out a cancellation form a month ahead of time (just like at EVERY gym), you have a one time a year extra fee for improvement of the gym, and an initiation fee. BY THE WAY a $100 initiation fee is NOT BAD. My last gym charged $300 AND $35 a month instead of $25. Gold's manager even gave me a 50% discount on the fee when I signed up.
So, my experience has been great so far. I really, really like it. It reminds me of back home by Eglin AFB - a lot of serious gym rats.

Apart from the tremendous amount of "bros", management has a lack of maintaining a clean and orderly environment. Wi-Fi doesn't work, the sales people pay close attention to the women and forgo any customer service to anyone with a membership. The rules are not enforced people come without towels drop the weights and don't rerack what they use. It isn't any wonder why golds went from three locations to one.

December 19, 2017 21:49

Golds has closed 2 locations and never NEVER never updates their times. Their ONE Location is Open 24 hours mon-thurs but not this Tuesday, Today they chose to close at 9pm, with no notice. They come up with new hours every month and FAIL to update website. In this day of Twitter, why can't anyone on GODS green earth send a message out the members who make a trip to the GYM & pay a monthly fee. I have called and asked only to find out the hours were not accurate. We get to the gym and figure it out when the lights are out. Come on guys!

The jungle as I like to call it. It's the last of a dying breed of real traditional gyms. Most modern gyms are too gentle, soft, and a need for silence! ?!? So if you're not to serious working out, go elsewhere please and let the animals roam in the "Jungle"!! The environment alone gets me hype! ! Real work, real gym, real results! !!

This used to be a decent gym until recently. A gym is a place of business, you go there to work and better yourself. To the most of the faculty it's a social gathering of drama queens - get you some headphones and mind your own business or get ready to deal w attitude from the front desk - people skills are non existent at this gym.
Yesterday one of the managers promised to honor their commitment of allowing guest for the rest of the month and today the other manager flip flopped and decided not to honor that commitment.

Better than having nothing. Tendency to close without much warning, for "maintenance." And, many things have not been improved or "maintained" in my years there (torn med balls, warped barbells, lose/frayed rower straps, etc.). There main focus seems to be on their college campus location, unfortunately.

WE HAVE HAD AN UP AND DOWN RELATIONSHIP OVER THE YEARS. I WAS A CLIENT WHEN THEY OWNED WOMENS WORLD ON THOMASVILLE ROAD. THEN AGAIN WHEN THEY HAD THEIR LOCATION ON APALACHEE PARKWAY BUT IT CLOSED AND I WAS SENT TO NORTHSIDE. OVER THE YEARS WE HAVE HAD OUR DISAGREEMENTS ABOUT FEES AND OTHER THINGS BUT TODAY THEIR FRONT DESK CALLED TO LET ME KNOW I HAD 2 TRAINING SESSIONS THAT WERE ABOUT TO EXPIRE (THANKS TO KENDALL M.) AND MY FAITH AS BEEN RESTORED! ITS NOT THE NEWEST MOST ADVANCED PLACE IN TALLY BUT IT DOES HAVE EXCELLENT PPL ! PROPS TO GOLDS
