Great gym. Real training like how it should be. Reminds me of a place in Philly or New York. Calasanz brings great vibe and attitude towards each person. Recommend to anyone who is not looking to spend a FORTUNE at other corporate fancy gyms when the real training is done in here where the trainers can work with you closely one on one.
I was recently referred to this place by a friend, and I was out of shape, and wasn't looking to spend a lot on membership. The trainer's there got to know me , and really motivated me to train 5x a week, and now I've turned from Mr jeckyl to Mr Hyde! I highly recommend
The second I visited Westport Boxing & MMA I got a bad vibe. I went in twice and Calasanz (the sensei, teacher, master) of the dojo told me I could have one free course to see if I liked it. I agreed. I did it, but it personally wasn't for me. Calasanz was very arrogant and self-centered. He called me on my phone the next day demanding I pay him. I told him about our conversation the day before, where I had been told I would get a free trail lesson. He kept talking over me when I tried to explain myself, and eventually started screaming at me and called my Mother and I idiots. He said, "You have no brain!" He also threatened me by saying he was going to release a video tape of me and embarrass to everyone. Prior to the call, I was still contemplating joining, but after he was very rude to my family and I, I obviously said no. He would not stop screaming, I eventually had to hang up. If you are looking for an MMA place, I would recommend anywhere but Westport Boxing & MMA. Two other great places are American Top Team in Danbury and Gracie Sports USA in Norwalk.
