I have been involved in martial arts for practically my entire life. I have trained in various disciplines and find the curriculum at Gus' studio to be superior to any other. It is truly focused on "self-defense" and he focuses on what works for the individual as opposed to a rigid "kata" format.

The "warm-up" is a full-body, functional workout that takes between 15 and 20 minutes. It is excellent for getting into and maintaining fitness. Gus and his staff vary the routine, so it is never boring and always as challenging as you want to make it.

Lastly, there is a great warmth in the people that come to train. Many of the long time members help out with the new ones so that they can feel like part of the team right away. That is not to say you will not be challenged as well as pushed out of your comfort zone. It is, as I mentioned, self defense and we train by the motto "the more we sweat in class, the less we bleed in battle".

Israeli Krav Maga is a fantastic martial arts studio and fitness facility and I highly recommend it to anyone.

As said by everyone else who has written a review...Gus is the Man! You can tell the second you shake his hand that he is a very focused and driven individual that is truly passionate about his work.

If you are like me, you have a full time job and self defense is something you have always wanted to learn, but the idea of picking up a martial art at this stage in your life seems impossible. Krav maga and Gus's gym are the answer to both of those problems. Krav stays away from the fancy stuff and shows you the most realistic self defense that anyone of any size or build can use. Gus has his classes set up so you can come when you can. You can go as little or as much as you want and still be able to pick up right where you left off.

It is important to me that I leave a review of this gym because when I was looking around trying to figure out what self defense class I wanted to take these reviews were the deciding factor for me, and the number one reason I picked Gus's gym. I can now leave my own 5 out of 5 star review and urge anyone who even has the slightest interest to check it out. The first class is free and one class is all you will need and you'll be hooked.

I've been to several other Krav Maga studios in the area and this place is by far the best. I wanted to learn Krav Maga because my job at the time had me ending my shift late at night, walking through parking decks alone and arriving home late. I didn't feel prepared to handle myself should anyone try to attack me - but now I do! The peace of mind is priceless! The classes here are so much fun and the instructors are awesome and knowledgeable. I can't recommend this studio and it's people highly enough. The instructors are really committed to excellence in what they teach and how they teach it. Speaking from a woman's perspective, what I've learned here has been so empowering and really given me confidence no matter where I go. Dropping some extra weight and toning up has been just an added bonus. :)
