All of the instructors I've had so far are great! They're patient and will explain and break things down until you get it. Definitely give this place a try if you've ever considered taking any martial arts classes!
Absolutely best place!! The instructors are very knowledgeable and the culture is truly supportive and everyone's here to get better. Highly recommend for anyone looking to learn self defense, get an awesome workout in or meet tons of cool people!
Great place to train! Facilities are always clean. They take this very seriously especially during flu season. Instructors are always encouraging, professional, friendly, and respectful.
Its been my one year anniversary for Muay Thai! Each class better than the last! Darin runs this place like no other!
I am brand new to martial arts, and I have found a incredible place to begin my journey. The staff, the instructors, and community are so welcoming. Especially the amazing people who attend the Plus One Defense System's capoeira class. It my favorite by far. Learning something brand new means there is a period where you are constantly making a fool of yourself. However, you have never met an instructor and group of people who make you feel so good about being so bad. Baby steps! :)

The variety of classes offered is what first drew me to this place. After staying for a while, I realized more and more that it's more than just the classes themselves. They have classes for people who want a casual environment, or a highly competitive one, grappling, striking, both, and a bunch of other stuff I never even had the chance to try. Also plenty of stuff for kids.
The price is extremely reasonable for all they have to offer, IMO, best bang for buck in the area if you want MMA, BJJ, or Muay Thai.
The community is super nice, I've never had a bad time, and there are so many passionate people who are just super happy to be there and it's a great atmosphere.
If you're looking around for a place to try any or many martial arts, definitely check out a trial class. :)
Plus One Defense made learning BJJ incredibly fun, effective, and rewarding. Every instructor is pleasant to be around and extremely knowledgeable. Very clean and family oriented environment. I plan to start my children here in the future. Easy 5 stars.

This is a great place to drop in and visit if you're visiting from out of town. Darin and his staff were very welcoming. The facility is really clean and completely comprehensive. There's a weight room, three different mat rooms, an octagon and boxing ring. So whatever form of martial arts, this is the place to train. There are two showers available at the facility, if you need to get clean right after you train. Your training partners here make great and friendly rolls, highly recommend this place!

Almost too good to be true..this place is real the training is real and the experience is real..the people are all great instructors and students..im going on my 3rd month and this has brought me the most happiness and peace I've had in years

Many martial arts styles. Talented instructors. Large, well kept facility. Always open (even in bad winter weather). My son and I have switched from a month-to-month contract to a long term contract based on the good experience we have had so far
I've been participating in martial arts for 15 years and have attended 5 or 6 different schools in this time, but no school/gym has ever compared to the facility at Plus One. The facility itself is spectacular with top of the line equipment, an mma cage, boxing ring, full gym and lots and lots of clean matt space. This is the only gym I've been to that offers MANY different styles of martial arts with instructors specifically trained in each so there is literally something for everyone and the knowledge of the instructors is beyond anything I've ever experienced. The welcoming environment is one you cannot pass up, this gym is THE premiere gym in the state, definitely check it out if you are interested in any type of martial arts.
Excellent facilities and phenomenal instructors coupled with a friendly environment.
I love the free to use fitness center. Why pay for a gym membership when you can take excellent classes taught by experts AND have a place to lift?
What a wonderful place to train! Darin and the rest of the Plus One team are so encouraging and inviting, you really feel like a part of a big martial arts family. I haven't always been consistently able to train but they have always worked with me so I can continue my training.
In addition to the welcoming environment, the facility is top notch and well maintained/cleaned. Once, you throw in many options for classes/times, it is clear that you are dealing with a great organization that really strives to help people become healthier in all the ways.

I love this place! The owner is awesone and so welcoming. This is my son's second time enrolling and it felt great that they remembered him from a few years prior. Plus One is very professional and their new location is great! I would recommend this place to anyone! They also have amenities like showers, a fitness room, I believe they also have yoga. Check it out for yourself. You won't be sorry.
I searched self defense on google out of pure curiosity, and came across Plus One Defense Systems. After trying mutliple studios in CT, i realised many places were helpful, but i never felt like i belonged, due to my lack of experience. When I visited plus one, i immediately noticed the passion of the owner Darrin, and felt motvated to stay committed and consistent. There are so many different types of art at this dojo and everyone is there to improve. Without a doubt the most friendly environment and knowledgeable teachers I've ever come across. In addition, my first class was free! I recommend this place to anyone who has an interest in martial arts and being apart of something great.
I started Krav Maga at plus one about 6 months ago and LOVE it! I can only go twice a week because of work and school schedule but if I could i would go everyday!! It's an Awesome workout and as a women.....a great skill to have!
