1. The bathrooms are filthy and there is no space at all to get ready in the morning if you're planning on working out before work. They don't have a locker room- just 4 bathroom stalls with showers inside that walk out right into the machines. If 4 people are showering, then have fun waiting forever to pee.
2. No wipes to clean down the machines. They have 3 paper towel dispensers for the whole gym and a couple squirt bottles with cleaning solution if you can find them lying around somewhere.
3. No class schedule posted. In the studio they have signups for a couple classes but they are frequently cancelled because of low participation.
4. The complimentary personal training session when I first joined which was awful. The guy had no clue what he was doing and didn't listen to my fitness goals. He had me do a workout that was focused on body-building which is not what I said I wanted to focus on at all. Also, the way he was demonstrating the reps was incorrect and unsafe. I had to ask him if I could modify some of them because I knew the way he was instructing was not correct form and could cause injury to my neck.
5. When it came to cancelling my membership, the experience was unsurprisingly poor. The lady on the phone was extremely rude and never asked why I was cancelling (wouldn't they want feedback to improve?) She then made the process sound very complicated and that I would need to email the original AF location I started with and have them email my file to her. (hello- can't you do this internally.) I submitted an "email" through the contact us page on the website as she instructed. No one followed up, emailed or called me to confirm anything. I called back a few days later and the same lady (just as rude as before) said it was received and my membership would be done at the end of the month. As most gyms do, they charge an annual "maintenance fee" of around $80-90. This happened to be charged a couple days after I cancelled my membership and she would not refund me. I asked why I had to pay a maintenance fee for the next year when I would no longer be a member and she told me to read the fine print in my contract. Unbelievable. I reached out on the "contact us" page again on the website and no one has replied.
For the quality of gym, you can find a place way cheaper. It's about $50 a month and you can get a membership at 24 Fitness down the road for about $35 with an actual locker room, pool and fitness classes.
Save yourself the headache.
