I wonder if folks really know how hard it is to run a gym ? It's easy to sit back and criticize when you don't have to run it . EVERYBODY has a better way or if they ran it they could do it better . Think about this you have athletes from are parts from every situation ( single parent homes , homeless , athletes taking care of themselves) add in the factor the stressed out cheer parents . The cheer parent love the coaching staff as long as the cheer parents get to act disrespectful ,rude and out of control . But once they are disciplined the gym owners and coaches become bully's rude and nasty . Nine times out of ten if the family is asked to leave a program it in never the child/ athlete fault . It's the cheer parent acting like a grown child having a tantrum . Because they are no longer getting their way . Most likely they have been called out about their intolerable behavior by the gym owners or coaches.
Well...for starters....there isn't a single soul in your gym who will care more about your gym than you. Yes...you may have wonderful staff (which I do) but it's still your baby. Its still your livelihood. Its your dream and you must succeed and succeed successfully. Our sport is not necessarily profitable. Especially small gyms. Most do not have the room or staff to run a million classes. Therefor, like me...I run strictly on allstars. I don't have a choice. Location can make or break you and if you don't want it to break you...you as the owner go without days off, paychecks, sleep etc. As an owner... we a are always last to benefit from anything other than our athletes success. Which for most of us...is why we do what we do.
In allstar cheer, what comes in goes right back out. To keep it affordable...we can't gash our families. When families don't pay...we have to eat it. We can take them to court, but if they don't care about their bad credit...we never get paid. Athletes monthly program fee doesn't even come close to covering monthly overhead. When a kid quits...it's extra hours in the gym to redo a routine...no charge. When you need a kid to fill in as x-over...no charge to the family...you as the owner eat the expense. When you pay for an anthlete for WHAT EVER reason...just means one less dollar in the gym bank account to keep the gym running. When you do choreography all summer, speak at conferences and do private lessons just to keep the gym running...yeah its all on the owner!! So it's easy to point fingers but just maybe to need to sit back and look at the whole picture before you want to talk bad about people who are constantly helping you out . Never bit the hand that feeds you . Remember you weren't bad mouthing or slander these people when they offered you help and comfort.
