I was in Denver visiting and wanted to train. Very welcoming with excellent instruction.

Visited the school and loved the people in it. Everyone seems to be passionate about teaching the rookies even the students. If you're nervous about coming in don't be they will treat you with the utmost respect and want you to be able to defend yourself, not just totally dominate you. I signed up the moment I left the class but had a work discrepancy, my schedule flipped and I could no longer make 6-8. I sent an email out and THE NEXT DAY they sent me a kind and understanding email and immediately refunded me. I have an insane ammount of respect for these people EXACTLY what you should expect from a Gracie school and then some. Big props to them.

I visited the school for a private lesson while on a trip to Colorado.. I had just returned from the Gracie Academy in Torrance California.. and I decided to stop by Mile High Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and train while in town. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to take any of the regular classes but fortunately I did get a chance to train privately with Bryan Cameron one of the schools black belt instructors. I did a one hour private session with him and wished I had time for more. Very cool guy and I learned alot. I look forward to my next trip out to Colorado and Mile High Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Thank you Bryan. P. S. The other instructors look awesome too - based on their bios.

I really dont think any other school is this well equipped for teaching bjj. They have the heart, the knowledge, skill, expertise, and experience. What they have in particular that makes every time i go extra fun is their sence of humor and character. Its really everything you could ask for.

Great place to learn and grow. The instructors are top notch, and are very helpful in evolving your ground game.

This gym has amazingly friendly people, the instructors are not only at the top of their game but friendly and welcoming as well.

In my personal experience I ended having to leave this gym due to an injury from a hot head purple belt. As a white belt I apparently did a few things that pissed him off and I quote him "so that's how you want to play it." And as such he put his knee onto my chest as hard as he could twice causing internal bruising and worse. It put me out of this gym and any gym for over a month it looks like.

My message to this student and any student who believes that it is acceptable to injure a student is that if a said white belt is doing something wrong, you calmly tap the floor and explain it to them. If they do anything less than punching you in the face then you do not have the right to injure. You do not allow your pride and anger to justify injuring or hurting them. That's a good way to get sued.
And in addition I hear comments from higher belts making fun of white belts sitting on the bench during sparring sessions while higher belts are still training. Well no **** Sherlock. No one is born a black belt.

So with that said do not allow a few bad apples to ruin the bunch. But none the less, if you are a white belt, just be careful is all. Work on defense as a white belt rather than offense. If you are doing something right and gettiing a higher belt on the defense more times than not they have a lot of pride to lose. Perhaps that was my mistake here was attempting offense with the wrong person.

The instructors are very faithful people too. As they noted I had not trained for a month then when quitting they refunded me a month if the time of my injury. So again the instructors are freaken awesome people.

Cheers.

Was visiting from NY and stopped by to train. Great atmosphere and no egos... just a good group of people who want to train and coach with no BS.

Was at the park with my friends and this crazy man comes up and starts yelling about how we are in "his" parking lot and we need to leave. He told us if we aren't doing business to "get lost". I don't know who that guy thinks he is talking to strangers like that.

Joining this school has been one of the best experiences. I have learned so much about this sport and my self. I know how to push my mind and body to learn more. Each class I feel encouraged to learn more and keep coming back. I have so much more self confidence. The workout are fantastic.

As a new student to the practice of Brazilian Jiu-Jutsu I did a lot of research and visited multiple schools to determine which one would be right for me. Mile High Gracie Jiu-jutsu is welcoming, unpretentious and low-key. I felt right at home. The experienced students spoke to me and encouraged my participation. The instructors are patient, thoughtful, considerate and tough. I would highly recommend this school to any level of Brazilian Jiu-Jutsu practitioner.

Best place in Colorado to go for BJJ. Teaching gi and non gi classes, you get a feel for self defense as well as an overall knowledge of the best jiujitsu. Extremely happy here

The gym has a great atmosphere, knowledgeable instructors and plenty of opportunity to share and improve your skills.

LOVE GRACIE BARRA

October 23, 2017 08:28

I've been training here for a few years now and love it. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and all of them provide their own unique style. The students are all great and nobody has any ego or attitude. Very comfortable place to train jiu jitsu. They have some of the best prices around and they don't require any contracts like many other schools.

I shopped around the typical big schools in Denver. But they are all the typical "30 days free" with a six month contract, with registration fees of $200 bucks and a monthly payment that rivals a car payment! (I use to work for a MA school like that) Lets just say if a school won't list it's prices over the phone, DON'T GO THERE. They are 50% instructors and 50% salesmen. And they will just try to get an "intro" class so they can then manipulate you in person, it's easier that way.

But anyway, mile high is NOT one of them. I have been taking martial arts for 6 years, and Morgan has been one of my favorite instructors in the short time I have trained with them. All of the instructors are down to earth, they want to help you, and not just make a buck off from you. And their biggest emphasis is to keep calm while rolling, and to breathe! Two factors most of us forget in rolling and life in general. This place is affordable, fun, no contract (life is unpredictable) and really good technical instruction. These guys have been doing BJJ for at least 10 years, so don't think for one second that you have to spend a ton of money and go to a big renown school to learn great BJJ down to earth instruction. And if you look at my review history, you know it's hard to get a excellent score from me, but Mile High has got it! Thanks for giving me confidence mile high!!!
