This place killed my vibe tonight!!! Come on!!! I am a tumbler with 20+ years experience, came in having a great day, and noticed a major safety hazard with their foam pit. It *needs* to be fixed. I had *two staff members* try to tell me it was safe to have a slack line hidden 2 feet deep into the foam pit directly in the landing area in front of the tumble track.
It's a serious hazard. The second you miss some foam blocks on your way in, you're literally landing on a freaking taut slack line 2 feet deep, coming into the foam pit from a height of maybe 8-10 feet, expecting soft foam. Can someone say "broken ankle"? How about "broken back"?
Rule of thumb: Support structures should never be that shallow, and should never be in in a landing area. (Duh!)
I've been to tons of gyms over the course of my life, have coached at many places (including Camp Woodward), and never has there ever been any kind of taut structure that shallow in a landing area. I mean yeah you might hit the net, or whatever *surface area* is holding the blocks 4 feet deep and need to add foam, but something thin and solid you can stand on hidden in the foam? No.
This is a no-brainer, guys! Come on. Not only that, but the girl at the front desk gave me a nasty attitude when I tried to bring it up.
I'm not gonna risk getting injured here. I don't know if there are any more "hidden treasures" like this, so to speak.
And for that matter... if someone ever brings up a safety concern, it's Your gym, Your responsibility, Your fault!!! Come on!!! Y'all need to step it up on the customer service end and take ownership when people bring up concerns.
