Black Dog is my favorite yoga studio in the valley and Sigrid Matthews is one of my favorite teachers of all time! She's compassionate and highly knowledgable - a uniquely gifted teacher and wonderful human being!

I have taken many different yoga classes at Black Dog and have tried most of their teachers. The best class, however, is taught by Jenny Brill. If you like Anyusara, you should definitely check her out. It doesn't matter if you're level 1, 2 or 3, you will love her and improve your yoga practice. She, unlike many teachers, walks around the class and helps guide you to strengthening your pose. She also describes the pose with precise deal, which helps guide you better into your pose. Not to mention, she's very sweet and funny. Definitely try her class!

Regardless if you are a novice or an experienced student you will find teachers and classes that are inspiring and challenging. Plus, if you want more than yoga then I highly recommend the Mindful Body Sculpt class by Chappell Westlake, the Deep Stretch class by Heidi Kaufman and the Restorative class on Sunday evening by Melissa Morgan. If you are experienced or think you are then head directly to Strong Flow class by Dice lida-Klein and if he doesn't amaze then his girlfriend will.

There are three studios so you have a great selection of classes and times. Plus there is a daily $5 class for those on a budget. And besides the basic Ivengyar oriented classes there are several Anusara-certified teachers. I was truly impressed that all teachers stressed fundamentals and alignment unlike a popular studio in Studio City which advocates the "do what you want" philosophy. If you are new to yoga I recommend this studio over others in the Studio City - Sherman Oaks area simply because of the comprehensive schedule and variety of teachers. If you hesitant or undecided, try the 14-day unlimited class package for only $30: it is the best bargain in the Valley.
