A great place to go if you want to learn how to defend yourself or just have a really fun work out! The classes are set at a great pace so if you are a veteran or a beginner you have someone to work with that can cater to your needs. The coach staff is friendly and down to earth and its real easy to make new friends with the other students as well. I definitely recommend to anyone who wants to get a good honest sweat on and would rather learn something helpful than run for an hour on a treadmill

My son started going here in July 2015 on a trial membership. Since then my wife and I have enrolled him to be a full time member. Coach Johnson and his team are great with the kids. One thing I really like is that they focus on teaching the kids to have respect for others, and to improve on their discipline. We have seen improvements in both his confidence and maturity level both at home and at school. Recently my wife signed up for the adult kick boxing class, and I have signed up for the adult Krav Maga class. The adult classes are pretty intense, but also have a casual atmosphere. We are all having a lot of fun meeting new people, learning awesome fitness/self defense skills, and getting a killer workout.

Initially I was not going to write a review to give a struggling business the chance to get better. Unfortunately after a childish messaging back and forth with the owner, it is no longer acceptable to keep quiet and let anyone else suffer.

I went to this gym for their interview process. Their standard was to attend a week of class and they would get back to me with further details.

My initial impression- gross. It smelled disgusting and the place was dirty - everywhere. I would not even use the restroom. Everything is worn and reeks of sweat and b.o. Like no one knows how to clean.

The structure of the krav maga program was not for me. I have taken Krav Maga for a few years and the class methodology wasn't efficient for me. Just because you have20 years of experience doesn't mean you can adequately teach it. There was no training to standard; they train to a rushed time. I lost interest immediately. Krav relies on muscle memory- and this training program doesn't structure that.

After a week of trying to look on the bright side I tried to be enthusiastic about working there and upping the cleanliness.

Fortunately for me they never called me back, text messaged or emailed me for follow-up. So unprofessional.

The owner Darryl Johnson made a video where he was criticizing people who went in for interviews. I responded with a comment saying that I didn't even receive a phone call or an email or any response to my own interview. He deleted my comment and sent me a message apologizing for not getting back to me and backhandedly stated that krav was not for me.

I was appalled at his unprofessionalism in his messaging. I will take screenshots and update my review so that you can have an unbiased opinion on our exchange. His responses to me resemble that of a high school spat.

The good thing that came out of this, is that I did not have to pay $179 for a disappointing membership. Instead I pay $79 for unlimited classes in a pristine professional and well formatted kickboxing gym.

Do yourself a favor, save your money and find a gym worthy of you.

*** In Response to your response***
You, Darryl Johnson, quoted me that rate. Which is obscene that you would lie about it. That goes right back to lacking Moral Integrity.

You go on Video rants about people who apply for positions at your gym, but comment here that you handle yourself professionally.

I have no respect for your unprofessionalism and lack of discipline.

I have no respect for someone who calls themselves a martial artist but does not follow the ethical and moral lifestyle.

Son has been going 5 yrs. A great influence, a great mentor, a great teacher. Darryl Johnson saw in our son what was in there and brought it out. Darryl is a people person who we consider part of our family.
Martial Arts is not a sport alone, it's a discipline and the ones that find fault with everything or give up due to rigorous standards, are easily upset when challenged, and cannot handle being held accountable should not attend. If you want to change your or more important your child's course and need a program, I recommend Darryl Johnson and all the instructors both Jr an adult whom Darryl carefully chooses himself.

Really enjoy the classes, instructors, and the curriculum. I am enrolled in the kickboxing and Krav Maga classes, and my daughter has enrolled in the Skillz Ninja classes since she was two.

I signed up for Krav Maga classes at American Fortitude eight months ago. The reason why I wanted to learn self defense was because I was harassed on the street by four men in a car. I felt scared, vulnerable and powerless and luckily I wasn't harmed. I wanted to learn skills which could possibly save my life one day should that happen to me again.
The atmosphere at the gym is very friendly and the training is powerful and effective. The skills I have learned have left me feeling empowered and I'm more aware of my surroundings. I have been trained to react to all types of physical threat and how to escape all situations. The best part of this whole experience is how much fun I have in training. Darryl, Araceli and the team are fantastic, if you are interested in learning self defense, this is definitely the gym to go to. This type of training is something I recommend all women to take.

I've been a student here for about 7 months and it's been a great experience. Krav is an art form that's useful almost immediately, and it builds confidence in an extraordinary way, in addition to being a really good workout. Darryl and his team of coaches are great to work with, and the atmosphere among the students is a blend of family and pushing each other to do the best we can.
