What can I say, this is my home away from home. The inclusive and knowledgeable staff are what keeps me making gains and continuing to improve in my movements, but it's the rest of the Crossfit San Leandro community that keeps me coming back for more day in and day out at zero dark thirty. Workouts feel like a family gathering where everyone wants to see everyone else continue improving into their best selves which is already awesome in and of itself if you're in the presence of this group of solid human specimens, and that's all I'll say about that one.

My niece joined 5 yrs ago after tearing her ACL. A year later she got my sister to join. 4 years later she got my brother in law to join and 5 years she got me to join! I'm still doing the basic, but I'm EXCITED! I'm doing something for me!

Absolutely top notch. I've been to boxes on both costs and inland and this is my favorite one so far. I have worked out with several coaches here; they offer insight and encouragement but do not go crazy pushing people. I really appreciate that because it is easy to hurt one's self if over-encouraged.

This place is also inviting and there are people of varying levels of ability; honestly, as a gym should be. Therefore, it seems like folks are able to work out without feeling self-conscious.

Honestly, the first few weeks getting used to a new gym are a drag for me. I have to force myself to go. Here, I have to deliberately pace myself and take days off in between visits.

Great instructors, great environment, Pretty good equipment. Only downside is that when you need to do outdoor activities for a class, you might have to compete with truck drivers.

I did just one workout while I was in the city. The team is nice, the box is very well equipped. Maybe the biggest box I will ever visit! :)

Being in an ordinary gym for over a year I got really bored and was up for trying something new, something different. I'm one of those people that has heard a lot about crossfit (online and word of mouth) and thought it was only for idiots who (obviously) love to hurt themselves. Scepticism at its best. Well, little did I know how much surprise I was in for.

CFSL has an introductory course (6 lessons in the course of two weeks), which is great, cause if turns out you don't like crossfit, you can still just stop/quit afterwards (at least you gave it a go, right?). But that probably won't happen. For me it was love at first sight. Or should I say lift. :)

Ruth and LeeAnne (the owners) are both very well trained in physical therapy (masters and doctorates) and they always ask about your injuries and/or any other concerns/trouble you might have (prior to working out). They take great care of showing how to do things the right way so you don't get injured. So does the rest of the staff (Mae, Amanda, Marcus, Jason, Joanie, Jesseca and Miguel). They are all great!

After half a year (or 100 WODs later) I can honestly say I'm not quitting. If anything, I might get myself more than just 3 classes per week. There wasn't a boring moment in these 6 months for me (if anything I'm more and more driven to do things that I currently still can't do). I was in an ordinary gym for more than a year and was never able to lift as much as I'm able to here. My posture got better, I got some muscles and I can even do some cardio now, without dying (not a huge fan of running).

And the cherry on top - the community here is great! I've never encountered such an amazing support. We cheer together, we laugh together, we sweat together,.. and we sometimes even hang out outside of the gym. It's a pleasure to come into such a positive environment and work out with these people.

I can thoroughly recommend CFSL. They're the best!

This gym rocks! Who wouldn't want to workout at a gym that is run by a physical therapist? You're in good hands at crossfit San Leandro!

Did you know San Leandro Cross Fit does physical therapy? I talked to Ruth about trying to get in to do some traing, but let her know I was still suffering from a herniated disk in my lower back so it might be a while until I'm better as I was going on 6 weeks with excruciating pain and very limited mobility. Ruth said " let's get your back issue worked out first, then we'll get you started after your back is ready, we offer physical therapy here, so lets get you in and see what's going on" I thought ok let's give it a shot as I've been going to my chiropractor and have gotten no better. Ruth made me an appointment with LeAnne on the following Monday. LeAnne accessed my range of motion, how crooked I was standing, and then she did what seemed to be some simple stretches and minor easy pushing on my spine, then she rechecked my range and pain scale when I did certain movements. I will say the small amount she did to me physically did help a bit , felt a bit better now, but wasn't thinking it would do a whole lot and would have to go in for multiple sessions before I would get any big improvement, so I have an appointment for the following week, However, I do not think I need another appointment with her , as 2 days after seeing her I was able to install a Entry door to a customers home "pain free". I cannot believe after 6 weeks of misery and about to get a epidermal cortisone shot for $1,200.00 . LeAnne ended all my suffering with one session! Amazed is a understatement, now I've been back to work installing doors for 3 days now pain free, now I can help my son practice soccer and also get back to going 160mph on my race bike .LeAnne is awesome, just wish I would've known about her sooner. Thank you so much LeAnne and Ruth you ladies Rock!!!
