As someone without a dance background, they do an amazing job making me feel comfortable learning and it's a lot of fun.
I think this studio is closed. Went there this afternoon and the door was locked. No entrance at all. Also no one answered the phone call if you just want to ask. They don't even get a sign.
Really nice dance studio in SF. Classes are available in many different styles such as hip hop, kpop, and urban. Instructors are great and very friendly. The only downside is that sometimes the studio gets too full and there is barely any room to move.
My finance and I took a couple of dance lessons with Michele, and it was a great experience. Michele is awesome -- really knowledgeable, keeps the lessons really enjoyable, and pushes students just the right amount. I'd recommend her to anyone looking to take dance lessons.
I'm a super beginner and have taken a couple of hip hop classes here. The classes I took were really fun, and the instructors made space for non-dancers to get some experience. My roommate, a more advanced dancer, goes a couple times a week and really enjoys their classes. Prices are pretty affordable if you go every once in awhile, but I'm not sure how they stack up against other dance studios.

Great instructors, affordable price, but you'll be disappointed if you've taken classes in other big, major dance studios before.
Having moved to SF recently, my expectations of City Dance were high as it is supposed to be the biggest hip hop dance studio in SF.
Studios are a bit run down with no AC, and they are not located in the greatest neighborhoods.
Classes were fun regardless.
nice variety of styles. house and pop got dope instructors. freestyle at end of class freaks me out.
I Love IT
I've been taking dance classes since I was 8 years old, and then took a 10 year break. I was soooo happy to find this dance studio. I was reluctant to take dance classes again because I thought it would be full of younger students, but this is a great place for adults too. There are classes for all types and levels, and everyone that attends class is very friendly - there is a community feeling here.
I highly recommend this place! If you're an ex-pro dancer, or if you're just interested in trying a class for the first time, you won't regret taking a class!!!
I've been taking the adult ballet classes from Carla ever since she joined City Dance a couple years ago. She is very patient us newbies who never took ballet as a kid, explains each exercise so that you can understand it, and goes at a pace that works perfectly for us. I recommend this place to all my friends interested in dance!

To clarify the previous comments: "City Ballet School" and "City Dance School" are completely separate schools. City Ballet is a ballet school offering classical Russian Vaganova based training, taught by the finest teachers, and modeled after Artistic Director Galina Alexandrova and Men's Director Nikolai Kabaniev's own training at the Bolshoi Academy in Moscow, and the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg Russia. This is a superb school for serious ballet students.
City Ballet School rents out space after ballet class hours to "City Dance School", an entirely separate organization without a "home" studio, so it rents out five different studio spaces around the city and hires teachers of various dance forms including jazz, hip hop, and flamenco.
Smuin Ballet also has, in the past, rented studio space from "City Ballet", but no longer rehearses at this location.
