This is the only place in the Castro that's chill enough for me to work out, so please don't everyone rush over and ruin it. But if you are looking for a non-cruising gym with members who seem completely caught up in working out and who are pretty good to each other, this is the place.
My only complaint - and the severity varies - is that many people here work out with trainers. SOME trainers (not most of them) and some people who work out on their own, have a bad habit of setting up 2, 3 or even more stations and hogging them while the rest of us are using only one machine at a time. I don't know how the gym can police this and not be off-putting to trainers. Trainers should know better than to encourage their clients to violate basic gym etiquette, especially in a smaller gym where there's pretty much one of everything... except free weights. So: Management -- awesome, humane, easy to work with, totally out of the way of the workout. Other members -- could be better, but i've unfortunately seen worse.
