Love this gym. So friendly! Lots of classes to offer... I have been a member since I was a kid and this place has always been a favorite pastime. I would definitely recommend this gym as the best gym in Redding!
Great classes, equipment variety, workout rooms, pools, and friendly staff.
THIEVES. I paid for my son to have level 3 swimming lesson $50. Day two I was told by the instructor he should drop a level (even though he was just repeating a level) and that the class he was put in was 3/4 and most of the kids were at a level 4. She then goes on to say that due to the class size she could not provide the extra attention he needed. Ok fine. So I go to the front desk and request a refund. The young man at the front desk talked me into applying the $50 towards two private lessons. I agree and fill out the form and he says that someone will get back to me. A week goes by and I hear nothing so I call and talk to the person in charge of the aquatic department. I ask again for a refund since I had yet to receive the services I paid for. She said someone will get back to me. Two more days go by and still nothing. So I call again only to be informed that $37 had been applied to my account and that whoever told me I could apply the $50 to private lessons didn't actually have the authority to do so. I dont have an account with them and I am not a member. I am also told I will not get a refund that they dont give refunds. So not only did they not provide the services I paid for, but they have a total and complete lack of communication with paying customers and between departments. Unacceptable. We scraped together that money so my child can have swimming lessons and YMCA just ripped us off.
I have lived here in Redding for 5 years. YMCA has been one of the best gyms I been to in my life. The staff are amazing and they have great equipment. Overall I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
The Y M.C.A. is a very nice place to go work out with your friends and family. Very clean and friendly place. I recommend that you go check the place out you will love it also. Thank you.

The YMCA has a lot of activities and so since the membership is a bit pricey you have to take advantage of what's offered to make it worth while.
The only negative I have Is you cannot teach people lifts. They want you to pay their trainers $50/hour.
Even correcting their form Is frowned upon. This is dangerous, because it discourages inexperienced people from seeking help or receiving help from other experienced people.
Other than that, you have a pool, plenty of bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, weights, yoga room, stretching room, all sorts of stuff.

The YMCA has about 140 classes per week plus a large variety of exercise equipment and special classes and child watch just for kids.
Don't forget about the basketball court, indoor and outdoor pools, friendly staff, simply the coolest personal trainers and more.
