I have been attending Bar Method for the past year. The instructors are knowledgeable and pay close attention to all students. I was struck by how they address every student by their first name. The classes are fun, challenging and can be adapted to your abilities. I also love the convenient app they have to sign up for class.

Great studio--I have been going religiously for around 3 years! Very professional and hands-on. The instructors learn every student's name and offer frequent helpful adjustments. Even the receptionists learn your name, making you feel like you are a part of a community! Even though you are in a class of ~20 students, you get the experience of being in being in a small group class or with a personal trainer. There also frequently offer free classes when new instructors are being trained. I also love that Bar Method is always refining the technique they teach and pursue research and development to make sure they are giving you the safest workout with the most effective results. I have tried another big chain barre studio in Palo Alto and this one is significantly better for roughly the same price!

Most efficient workout ever. I've tried lots, but always come back to barre, specifically The Bar Method. Love the attention to form...

I'm so happy to have found this place! All the instructors are friendly, helpful , they remember everyone 's names! The workout is all about using your own body weight, its challenging . After class I feel so good, so energized ! I love it! Warning, it's addictive !

The instructors are really nice, but I found that this wasn't a very challenging workout.

Pros:
It'd may be good if you are just getting into working our or have joint sensitivity. The studio is also perfectly clean and parking is easy.

Cons:
For someone who is pretty fit, Bar Method just isn't that challenging. I found it very relaxing and liked going in the mornings in addition to running or lifting, but on its own I wouldn't count it as a workout for the day. Also, I found it annoying that you spend so much of the class rearranging the mats and changing position as opposed to actually pushing yourself. I'm a former ballerina, so my opinion may not be reflective of others' experiences. I prefer actual ballet technique classes, but for barre classes, I find that Cardio Barre (mostly in LA) and Barre3 are much better--more challenging and less fiddling with gear.

I love Bar Method Palo Alto, I've been going for maybe 3 years now or so and my body has definitely become more toned, my flexibly increased and my overall health and well-being has improved. The instructors are wonderful, the clientele friendly, the facilities clean and well kept and the method is exceptional. I'm hooked for life!

I love the Bar Method! I started a few years ago with the goal of building more upper body strength, and the workout had almost immediate effects on my entire body. (I remember going for a run after only a few classes, and I felt like I was suddenly running on someone else's (much stronger) legs!) Even with lots of experience behind me now, the instructors all push me further in every class. Small corrections make all the difference, and I've found that the attentiveness of the instructors really distinguishes Bar Method from other workout experiences. It's also a very pleasant, friendly, and clean environment. Membership covers two studios (Palo Alto and San Mateo), which is great for those of us who are constantly up and down between SF and the southern Peninsula. It's certainly not inexpensive, but it's worth every penny for how the workout makes me feel.

While I love everything about the Bar Method workout and what it is doing for my health and general well-being, what I love most about this studio is the staff. I almost immediately felt like part of a wonderful family of people who want to see me succeed and keep coming back. It's also just in general a beautiful studio with a lovely locker room and showers, shopping area (good luck resisting the cute clothes and gear) and two spacious rooms for workouts.

Professional, excellent variety of times available. Instructors have great energy and know everyone by name. Every class I've been to they have made sure to provide individual attention to everyone, correcting posture and making sure you get the most out of your hour.

My first bar experience ever. Liked it a lot. Especially the express classes - so efficient! Noticed after 4 weeks a change on my body. Will definitely continue! Thanks to your great team!

Every one at this studio, from the girls at the front desk to the instructors are amazing. They remember your name, help correct your posture during class and make working out really fun. I highly recommend giving it a try.

An excellent and clean studio with friendly, knowledgeable staff. The workout will make you sore in places you didn't know you could be sore, but leave you wanting to come back for more. The classes provide a full body workout in an electric, upbeat atmosphere. The instructors provide personalized attention if adjustments are needed and also provide suggestions during the workout if you want to personally challenge yourself more too. In my first 30 days, I feel I am much stronger, have more energy, and can't wait to keep it up.

I enjoyed the classes. They were challenging. However I wasn't going so after a few months of being charged $159 I finally cancelled. Read the fine print of their service agreement. 30 days notice means from the 1st of the month. No pro-ration. Email correspondence back and forth and finally a phone conversation were all pretty disappointing. They claimed to have sent me emails about my absence of which I really would have appreciated since they were taking the money out month after month even though I wasn't going to any classes. I didn't receive any (they weren't in spam either). Also disappointing because they acted like there was absolutely nothing that could be done about crediting my account for 2/3's of a month over charge. I had attended no classes since July. I gave notice on 11/9, so 12/9 should have been the end date. Instead, they pulled another $159 from my account on 12/1.

To be fair, they offered to convert the remaining for month to a year package or transfer it to someone else. However, I wasn't going to class before so I didn't need a conversation and I know no one that is interested in these classes. Those options were not helpful in recouping the lost money.

The 2 stars is for the ridiculous 30 day notice requirement. It's not really 30 days, it's 30 days plus the remaining time in the month you give notice. That's not clearly spelled out and it really shouldn't be any company's policy especially if they post a 30 day notice requirement. The 2 stars is also for the inability of the owner to make any decisions, being a franchise evidently ties your hands to the point of no ability to meet a customers reasonable request. This is not a group I'd care to do business with again.

The Bar Method in Town and Country Village is a great place to work out. I started about 3 months ago and lost 2 pants sizes. I have been training all my life and no other work out I have tried has given me these kinds of results so quickly.

The studio is clean, great props and the teachers really know what they are doing. I cant wait to see what happens in another 3 months.

The instructors are friendly and helpful! I always get a great work out at this studio!

Positives: Great all-around toning at this bar-based workout studio, esp. of arms, quads, hamstrings, core -- you'll see results. Each class follows the same basic routine. After months it hasn't gotten old, and remains challenging. All the instructors work to learn names and give you personalized corrections & encouragement. Negatives: classes are pretty full and drop ins are probably difficult. You have to plan about a week ahead to get into popular times, or try on the wait list (though in my experience, you always get in off the wait list). It just goes to show how much people (mostly ladies) are addicted to the class.

Best workout to sculpt and tone your body. Effective and injury-free.
