So happy this place is in the neighborhood! No excuses, when the gym is 5 minutes away. Other than the location being super convenient, the gym is beautiful. All new equipment (pads, bags) and the mats are clean and super bouncy.
Nick, the owner, is a down to earth guy and really wants to build a sense of community in what sometimes feels like an over saturation of "MMA" gyms in the Bay Area. Other than being super knowledgeable in wrestling and jiu jitsu, Nick is just the kind of guy I would want to hang out with! Trust me, it helps to get beat up by someone you actually like. His strike fit class is so torturous, but like, in the best way possible. It hurts so good!
I have dabbled in jiu jitsu here and there but I've really enjoyed the classes with Alex. Jiu jitsu is a ton of technique that can get pretty overwhelming when first learning, but Alex is articulate and encouraging.
David is one of the Muay Thai trainers and I really dig what he does. He really focuses on technique and the basics. Listen, we all want to be badass mofos doing spinning back kicks and superman punches, but you got to learn the basics first. David does a great job of focusing on certain themes in each session (footwork, head movement) for beginners and intermediates alike.
All in all, this is an awesome gym and I'm glad it's in my hood!
