Hot Spot is truly a gem of a yoga studio. Great teachers, great vibe, great classes -- really a great choice for anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice.
The studio itself is clean, spacious, and tranquil, with a garden view in the main studio area. The temperature is more "warm" than it is "hot", so don't expect a Bikram-style class. Personally, I think the temperature is ideal for loosening up the muscles without being so intense that it makes you faint or light-headed. That being said, if you sweat easily, make sure to bring a towel. Also, since there is no carpeting, the studio smells neutral, pleasant, and not like sweat. Parking is easy to find around the studio.
Most of the classes are vinyasa, but they do offer 3 other types of classes:
- Hot Tuff, a challenging work-out class (seriously rewarding, and not for the faint of heart!)
- Decompression Session, a gentle vinyasa class that eases its way into a more yin-style class
- Hot Spot Honey Lounge, a therapeutic yin class to rest, restore, and calm the nervous system (HIGHLY recommended! I really love this one)
There is no pretentiousness here, and no selling-out of the yoga practice, which I highly appreciate. The yoga practice is respected, and each teacher brings in their unique point of view.
Give it a shot! Their introductory special is a GREAT deal ($49 for an unlimited month).
