I signed up for a 4 week challenge early January. I am done with the 4 weeks and I just signed up to continue the classes. I am very satisfied with the classes that the coaches provide. I usually go to the 7pm classes during the week. I love the classes because we can get direct feedbacks from the coach. They are always supportive and they encourage you to do your best.

During the 4 week challenge I met once a week for a talk with my coach. She helped me to define my goals and gave me useful advice on how to get better. During these 4 weeks, I went to 3 or 4 classes a week. I lost 6 pounds and lost almost 4% body fat. I had the chance to experiences different classes with different coaches. They have their own style and I appreciate them all. I also appreciate the fact that they offer a "Flow" class which is yoga inspired.
The food plan was personalized to my food habits and diet (I am a vegetarian).

There is a strong community spirit and I won't go anywhere else to work out. I never felt like I did not belong and everyone is very genuine and supportive. The team organizes a lot of event to bring everyone together outside the gym.

I recommend that gym to anyone who is afraid to do the first step into a gym!

Its so amazing to finally have a space that feels safe and inclusive for the Queer community. The coaches are great, and tailor workouts to individual ability, which is great due to numerous injuries. This place is truly a community, and I feel the support of the other members and coaches, which is super motivating when working out. I feel inspired to workout for fun, not due to the need to "fix" any part of me. Any place that encourages me to bring my whole self to their space has a high rating in my book :)

The queer gym trainers and community are unparalleled in quality and in-gym time experience. Honestly the in-gym experience is more than 5 stars, but the rest... I joined the six week challenge at a deeply critical time, and tho I was (just barely) able to make my goal, it felt like a very solo affair overall with no renewal options to keep involved in the community offered to me once the challenge ended. It was the most depressing end of a challenge I could have imagined, just losing access to my new found community regardless of the rewards to my updated bod, as no documentation around membership was being presented to me at my "exit" and the process was so deeply invalidating and overwhelming to "end the challenge" that I left in tears feeling like I'd never be able to come back again, the oppposite of how you should feel after shredding 5% body fat in six weeks. I see huge opportunities for the challenge staff and overall admin to make a more Whole, validating, and authentic experience for everyone involved.

I'm not sure how to post my written review so I'm leaving it in the comment here ---- I had an amazing time at The Queer Gym! I completed the Six Week challenge and lost 5% of my body fat. The classes were small, and challenging. I have never liked working out, but after a couple weeks I was looking forward the next workout. When I started, I could barely get through the warm-up, and by the 3rd week instead of being exhausted at the end of a workout I was energized. I was so excited to get in my next work out! The coaches are so awesome - checked in on your form, pushed you just further than you thought you could go. I love that I could go after work. It was more that just loosing 5% body fat, it was about community and encouraging the other to meet our goals. Combined with the nutrition plan I started to feel better in every way - I slept better, developed better eating habits, and had more energy!

I started going to the Queer Gym for the 6 week challenge, and had a really amazing experience.

Details: Every class begins with all members and the instructor giving their pronouns, naming any injuries they have and answering an ice-breaker question. Instructors are always flexible with altering activities to suit the needs and abilities of members, the energy is consistently welcoming and positive and the community is very diverse in age, race, body type and gender. The new gym space is twice as big as the old one, and really is a huge upgrade for gym members, though it is definitely in a neighborhood where it is culturally and financially out of place. I'll also note that the language the Queer Gym uses may not be for everyone - there is a lot of talk about "getting sexier" and burning fat, which might strike a bad tone for some folks.

All of that said, my experience (as a white, cis woman without disabilities) with classes and coaching was great. Not only did I see super exciting changes in my body through the challenge, including feeling WAY stronger, but I made a ton of new friends. The gym hosts tons of fun events for their members - game nights, parties, etc. - and I've never had such a big queer community. I highly recommend the Queer Gym to anyone looking to build high intensity workouts and a super great queer community into their life.

This is by far the best gym I've ever been to. I joined about 2 months ago with their 6 week challenge. My goal was to loose 20 pounds and after much dedication and motivation from my partner (she was also in the challenge) I met my goal! I'm currently in their second challenge called Bring a Friend Challenge and I've convinced my college bestie to do it with me. I'm so ready to switch to a healthy lifestyle and I'm thankful that it's with this gym.

I heard about the 6 week challenge and thought to myself "why not" ? It was time to get my health back in order and my stress levels DOWN! I've never been one to do classes at gyms so I was a little hesitant at first. This gym is all classes by the way... The second I walked in the door, all of the fear and insecurities I had left me. No mirrors or jerky, lifting bro's ?! Sign me up!

While there are currently no showers or fancy amenities, it seems as though they are continuously working on ways to better the new space they just moved into. Part of the growing pains of a growing gym I suppose. With that said, the classes are getting a little larger than i would like but I imagine over time, that will be smoothed out as well.

All in all, if you want your butt kicked continuously by knowledgeable, supportive, awesome coaches, it's worth checking out!

Great local gym with attentive trainers! Safe, welcoming, and encouraging space to get your butt in gear! Love the yoga classes to get some good stretching in after a tough work out!
