As of 11/27/19, Fit Republic is now permanently closed.

It was good for the money. It had the basic equipment that you need to get a good workout. Not a rip off like the rest of the gyms. But unfortunately, it's now permanently closed.

Pool is often not heated, ostensibly needing repairs.
Drinking fountains once had paper cups available, no longer.
Spa has been discontinued.

I've been a member for a few years now, my wife signed up for their fitness class in April for one year for 299 . In May they offered same deal for 3 years, but would do nothing to change our offer. We feel a little cheated. Whatever happened to customer satisfaction .

This was once a great club, and I was a member for the last several years. Alas, I finally quit my membership as it has gone down hill so far. They've changed names, but it's still the same ownership, management, and people. They used to have one problem: a mishmash of dumbells with missing weight groups. It was fairly annoying, but they finally got around to addressing that. However, they realized the money to be made in boot-camp style training classes. They took out the basketball court and converted it to a special class room. Fine, they need to make some money and people are willing to pay. BUT... then they decided to:
a) cancel all the normal classes
b) shut down the hot tub
c) shut down the sauna
d) shut down the steam room
e) take out water dispensers (which they eventually restored a couple)
f) take out tanning booths
g) take out hydro-massage beds
h) ignore upgrading or cleaning up their locker rooms and showers, which are one of the eyesores/problem areas of the gym (it's just old).

They upgraded some of their weight area stuff, but some isn't any better or actually worse in a few cases. So all-in-all they just stripped it down to a basic gym with pay mo $$ for boot-camp training, and make a few equipment upgrades. People left in droves at one point, so all the people I'd say hi to, encourage and receive encouragement from, all left. They have some older equipment you can't find anywhere else, and some of it is really good stuff. Too bad they just stripped down their amenities and in the process cleared the membership of friendly people.

As a company they use to be a decent gym. Now stuff is always broken, they got rid of all the perks, staff has become lazy and rude. Hopefully a 24 Hour Fitness takes over their lease soon.

Enjoyed coming here, but they have cut everything and anything they can to save money.

Fit republic has created a second account under my name. And when I brought it to their attention, they have taken over two months and giving me a runaround for returning my money. And this is besides the extra $100 they have charged me on my actual membership. They as of today owe me over $700!!! They are doing nothing but stealing money at this point!

Fitness evolution overall as a company is poorly ran I had membership for over a year with them they took away the childcare services therefore I had to cancel. After canceling I was charged for 4 months after the fact I canceled in July of this year and we are now at the new year and I have yet to receive my refund. I was given a supposed corporate number however when I called they stated they were a third party and cannot help. It has been a horrible experience I have been hung up on and have spoke with 4 managers all yielding no results they simply state they will put a claim in however nothing has been done.

Love the HIIT classes here, but definitely need more class times & should offer different kinds of classes

This gym has everything I need, and some stuff I don't need but can ignore. I love racquetball, and sometimes I like to lift weights and get cardio as well. Perfect place for it. Central Modesto on McHenry. Not too expensive. Can bring guests. Nice staff.

Do not join this club. The steam room and the sauna stinks. After getting enough members, They reduce the sercices such as cutting the hours on some locations, and cutting off some popular classes. They rent out the swimming pool to Jamie school of fish, and members can't use the swimming pool.

This gym has everything steam room lots of room lots of work out machines swimming pool nice and clean.

They cancelled all of their group classes except for EvoFit. I personally despise group training sessions in the "drill" or "bootcamp" style of EvoFit where they stand over you and push you to "just do one more" and then whistle or bark orders at you to switch to a new task.

Zumba, Yoga, and Bodypump were the main reasons I even went to that gym. The instructors of those classes were wonderful, and now they're gone. The gym offered no drop in fee or comparable substitute classes (EvoFit is NOT comparable as it is the only option and a completely different style and pace), so I and many other long-time members were still paying the same price for less services.

There was also no email notice or warning besides those they gave at the physical location. So when I came back from vacation--surprise surprise!!--all my favorite classes, instructors and friends were gone. It would have been considerate of them to have at least set up some kind of email or snail mail notice of class cancellations.

Also, when I quit membership due to class cancellation, a desk worker told me that the gym would refund me the extra month of membership fees (it's their policy to charge you for one month extra after you quit), and that I would just have to come in after I was charged and it would be waved because of the reason for my cancellation (no more classes). However....dun dun dun...it, of course, did not happen, and the desk workers there a month later had no idea what I was talking about.

This gym has stinky policies, poor customer service, and poorly trained employees.
