After hunching over my at my desk for the last two weeks in preparation for a huge deadline, I felt the stress settling into my neck and shoulders like tight knots. Salonpas only gave me temporary relief and as the knots in my muscles tightened up, my productivity went down. I had one of two options to get them out (1) massage or (2) hot yoga. My girlfriend and told me about a new local studio in town that offered hot yoga and I was instantly intrigued. I've been praying for a hot yoga studio to open in my neck of the words for the last five years since I first discovered hot yoga down in San Diego. Alas, a place where I might call my second home!
I spoke with Jodie, the owner, who graciously answered all my questions and I was on my way to get my Warrior Pose on. I had the pleasure of taking a Heated Power Vinyasa Flower class on Wednesday from 5:45-6:45 with Kat McGee which felt like a level 1 but I still worked up a nice sweat in the heated room. Kat welcome all the new faces into the class, walked around to make proper adjustments, added music, and allowed cool air to enter the room at the appropriate times. I spoke with Jodie afterwards and if you are looking for a more difficult class, take one with Katie Brunelle!
Pros:
Complimentary first class and complimentary first mat rental
5 minute grace period until doors are locked to start the class
Community class available for $9 on Monday from 545 to 645pm
Class room sizes are small (which allows them to be more personal) but be sure to go early to grab an ideal spot
Plenty of free parking but you can't part in front of certain units (I believe it's 1 and 7 but don't quote me on it)!
Cons:
I wish the class descriptions were more detailed or varied, 95% of the classes are titled "Heated Power Vinyasa Flower" with no indication of level.
No mirrors (which may be preferred by others)
