I've been going here for over two years and I am still tremendously impressed. The staff is friendly and helpful and, most importantly, responsive. The few issues I've had (only one or two on two years) have been minor and handled immediately.

Competitive atmosphere - only against yourself. Don't worry about your insecurities, not being in shape, overweight, etc. It's a very supportive, no judgment vibe. When the workout starts, no one is focused on anything but their workout, their form, etc. and, oh yeah, surviving because your are is getting kicked in the best way possible. This is full body weigh training and cardio - if you just want to be hyper thin.... go somewhere else. LA Fitness will leave your body stronger, defined, and lean and your heart performing better. And you will have fun. Promise!

I'm a member here and I enjoy it because of its convenience but otherwise it's really not great. The bathroom and lockers are ALWAYS filthy the TV's never work, and to top it off this LA fitness doesn't have all the normal amenities. Its frustrating.

Great place. Lots of machine to use. Free parking. The shower is clean. The staff is friendly. They have classes, and it has a nice pool.

Absolute cesspit.

I cancelled my membership last year on account that I wasn't going, and the only thing losing weight was my wallet every month in membership fees.

I rejoined this past weekend. (They were offering a sweet deal via online registration.) I'm filing this under forgot how bad it was till I entered back into the trenches. Same as I left. Numerous broken treadmills due to misuse by members stomping on them rather than running at speeds appropriate to their capacity. No one wiping equipment after using it--I don't care if sweat on it or not, wipe it!! This morning, trash all over near the cable equipment, and my favorite part of my workout today, was when the custodian swept a dirty paper towel on my foot without apologizing.

And that's another thing I forgot about this dump; the staff are so rude. I remember last year I rearranged my schedule for a trainer who I was supposed to meet at noon but he had to reschedule for 5 pm instead. I came to the front desk (5 minutes early) and there he was, behind the desk, standing around doing nothing; telling me that I'm early. I told him I'd be up by the elliptical machine...never saw the dude. Never bother to come up, and disappeared when I came down looking for him. Complete joke.

And, this evening, I get a voicemail from 'Charlie' from LA Fitness to call him back. Called him back; put on hold for nearly 5 minutes.

Even the members are slow and move at only two speeds: slug and slug in a coma. I mean, it's a gym...move!!

Just think of this we live in California the Nation Capital of Earthquakes and God forbid the next one is coming so who will put the Restrooms and Shower and Pool 4th Floors below ground ??????????????????????????????????????????? Who's idea was this while cars have 7 floors to park humans have to be underground in this gym !!! That's a really really really bad design. This could be the best gym in California if the Sauna and Pool would be in the Top floor imagine the View !!!! Would be Amazing but instead they totally wasted that opportunity and put the gym underground. But in the plus side you get 2 hours Free parking in one of the most expensive parkings in the world $50 a Day because of the Sheraton hotel !!!! So if this is your gym enjoy it !!

This place is nice I would of gave it a 5 star but the front lady at the desk has an attitude .

Probably the smallest, smelliest, and worst lay out of any LA Fitness I've ever been to. Every time I visit downtown I come here and it's always jam packed, not enough equipment and filthy dirty. Garbage on the floor, stains and dirt everywhere. The WiFi is basically useless. I really like LA Fitness, but this one is really terrible!

It is my opinion that it require a major improvement for cleaness. Moreover, it would very nice, if we can educate members to share equipment rather than marking with towels on multiple equipment and preventing others from using.

Ive told the staff several times that the ladies shower soap containers are filled with stinking water. Well, they have done NOTHING about it. Perhaphs it is the policy of these cheap bstrds to fill those containers with rotten egg liquid so women don't spend a lot of time in the shower.

It's a good gym but I personally don't like the lay out.

Always packed. The restroom is Long Beach but at least you can do cardio on the way to take a leak if you make it. Update: This weekend was "open house". I'm glad I didn't bring anyone. 5 machines were out of order. Two of them haven't worked in over 10 days. It's getting ghetto or Bally Fitness is coming back. One leg press. You have to sign to check out some of the equipment. There were no paper towels today and it looked dirty and I'm not picky by no means.

I don't know why I see a lot of complaints about this gym. Compared to other gyms in downtown LA, this one stands out as one of my favorites. Clean place, great people and even when there are no machines people let you work in. I tried this gym through their free week pass and I would recommend it if you want to try it for a month. If I would live near there and not at my university, I would definitely get a membership !

Terrible customer service. I went in hoping to receive a tour of the space and hear information about membership and private sessions. The young lady at the front desk wouldn't look up from her computer when I greeted her, and told me wait while while the sales person was finishing up a tour. I waited a while, and look around a bit. After some time I went back to the front desk and asked the young lady if she had any information or materioshe could provide on private sessions while I waited. She said, "No, and the two people here who can give you info are busy. One is doing a fitness assessment, and the other person you're waiting for and there's three people ahead of you so it might be a while."

I asked her why she didn't communicate before that there were 3 people ahead of me. She just said she was sorry and went back to her computer. At that point I left.

I only have two stars because from what I saw the space looked clean and there was a lot of equipment. But they won't be receiving my business due to terrible customer service.

Pretty sad to say, but this place has its flaws. The staff is a bit rude and it really stinks in there. Like worse than most gyms. Good equipment, but wouldn't come back here.

A very pristinely kept gym with various amenities, however, this place does have its problems. For starters the parking, the gym is located in downtown LA making it less attractive for those who have to commute here by car. Parking spaces can be very restrictive at peak hours and limited to 2 hours with validation.

The facilities here are fairly new, however they are very small for the size of a community that is only growing like downtown LA. Peak hours are hectic to have a steady workout routine here because of the limited machines. Other gyms can have 2 of each type of machine. Not here, space is so limited that it means that often you'll have several people waiting for you to finish your workout just to go immediately after you. This means there'll probably be some interruptions during your exercise routines because you'll probably have to wait for machines to be empty, especially for leg exercises.

Moreover, I'm noticing that almost all of the cardio equipment is salvaged. Now that in itself is not a problem, the problem is that many of the machines tend to be out of order very frequently. Granted, all of the problems I listed pertain to the fact that peak hours can be frantic for such small gym. The staff are generally amiable and the facilities are very clean.

Definitely feel the racial profiling in this place. As a white guy and minority in this gym, I randomly stumbled by one day to use the restroom. Took my ten minutes to get checked in cause dude was hitting on some milf. Then I b lined to the toilet and was followed into the restroom. While I was dropping a deuce all the sudden they want to start moping the floor. All the sudden ya know.. just goes to show some folks are still living in the 1950s.

The only reason I'm giving it a 1 Star is because of their crappy way of informing costumers about their policies that are direct and easy to comprehend. DO NOT, under any circumstances, sign up for the personal training they offer. It's a freaking scam. While the personal trainers themselves are fantastic and have demonstrated their desire to work one on one with their trainee, meet their needs and adjust, the way it works was just not worth my money. First off, I signed up for a personal trainer because I wanted to improve my fitness but I had told the guy in charge of personal fitness (Chris, who apparently doesn't work their anymore) that I was doing the LA Marathon and could not really comitt to a whole year because I was going to switch focus over to running. He said I could do the personal training for six months and to just talk to him when it came time so I can cancel the personal training service. SURPRISE! I found out that their is nothing he can do and I'm stuck paying for six months more than I had originally planned. I contact costumer service and they just send me an email basically stating that I committed to a full year which is DIFFERENT from what Chris had told me. Again, I was focusing on marathon training with some cross training, and thought, if I had no choice but to continue forking over my money I might as well use my PT sessions when I could. I finally reach the end of the EXTRA six months that I was tricked into having to pay with about 9-10 sessions left. Then March is marathon month and I was adjusting my fitness/diet to accommodate my less active life so I didn't want to use my PT sessions because I wanted to put my all, but with the LA Marathon so close, I wasn't gonna jeopardize months of training. A week after the marathon, I go to place a session with my PT to get me back at it. ANOTHER SURPRISE TO ME. All 9-10 of my sessions were just gone. IF I PAID for these sessions, shouldn't I be able to use them at my leisure depending on injuries or other fitness related recovery? AGAIN, DO NOT be fooled into their Personal Training programs because they just want a reason to take your money. I really liked both of my personal trainers and had been thinking about doing it again, but after this bad interaction with corporate costumer service and their complete lack of empathy, I'd rather go out and seek a private personal trainer.

bad employees. horrible HR. Racial profiling. made me feel like i wasnt suppose to be there. Staffers talked inappropriately about women who worked out there. horrible place. i wish i could give this place no stars.

Honestly, This place is worse than just lifting a Cinder block. At least you don't get the troubles of their Employees watching you like a criminal on a Hunt. Besides that, Majority of their employees, were very Upfront with both my girlfriend, and my sister.
Stating very disgusting and sexual things that were disturbing. I passed it off with my girlfriend (which she didn't take lightly, that I'd allow that to happen) but when one of their employees said he wanted to quote on quote "Watch her, tie her up, and have her open at all times" I punched his lights out.
Don't even get me started on the blatant racism to Black, Mexican, and Asian people...
I swear in threw up as I left the facility.

I called HR, but they were of absolutely no help.
I'm just glad it didn't ruin my family vacation.

Been coming to this gym for about a year since I started working in downtown. So convenient to come after work for a workout.. I never felt like I was getting a good workout with the equipment ( since I'm sure I had no idea what I was doing) so I decided to give the classes they provide a chance. Best decision I've made! Liz ( the Zumba instructor) is probably one of the best they have at this gym. Not only is her class always packed with regulars and new comers but it feels like one big party while working out. I've lost over 20 pounds on just her 4 classes a week. She motivates you and pushes you to do your best for that hour. I have tried the other zumba classes but none of the instructors are involved with you the way Liz is. Instead they stand in front of the mirror staring at themselves dance, without caring to see if you're doing the moves correctly. So with that being said I'm very upset to hear they will be taking away Liz's classes for someone that is a more "realistic" instructor. Being overweight myself this is very upsetting and just not okay. After her last class of teaching I will not be attending this gym.

The men's restrooms and showers are ALWAYS filthy: dirty seat covers, toilet paper and used towels on the floor. Excrement often makes the restrooms unusable. Why can't they keep it clean? Watch you don't trip over weights as many "macho" types think they don't need to replace them on the racks. Why not enforce the rules? What is the problem with the management?

October 19, 2017 05:25

The machine is not serviced, never lubricated, always broken maybe %20 machine. Too many people, they doesn't want to share machine, go to this gym just waiste time. Worst gym ever.

October 19, 2017 05:25

New machines, clean, ample locker rooms friendly staff. Validation for parking good for 1.5 hrs. Need to pull into parking structure and take elevator to P level. Gym will be on left hand side once you enter. Grandpa Jorge gives it a 7 out of 10 gym rating. Very packed with people.

A fantastic little gym in the heart of DTLA - I've been a happy member for 3 years now! Parking is easy, but walking is easier. This gym is multiple stories, so you walk into the main weight-room from the entrance, walk up a flight of stairs to get to the cardio room, or walk down a flight of stairs to get to the locker room and pool area. It is a bit smaller than other LA Fitness gyms, but what do you expect - it is underneath a large office building.

Tip: bring a towel. It gets toasty and a bit humid in the lower levels.
