I would recommend this LA Fitness over the old Bally's in Studio City. Not only is there a great amount of parking, the staff is very friendly, and the equipment is clean.
I did not get the sales pitch that I got at Bally's which is now LA Fitness. It's only a few minutes from my house and you don't have to wait on equipment they have plenty.
Everyone there was very helpful and friendly, and one person even took the time to show me how to use one of the pieces of equipment and that I was unfamiliar with. You don't normally get that kind of treatment unless you pay for a trainer or they're following you around like a little puppy dog looking for a membership.

I like this gym, good location and good gear. People are nice, the only thing I don't like that it gets crowded sometimes.
For an LA Fitness. It's a good location with totally decent gear. The other side of the coin is it's oversold and often too congested insofar quite often if you see an open machine, you better grab it or a nanosecond later, someone else will.
Also, the bottom floor has an active roped off personal trainer area. When the trainers are there with their clients, they blast music on a Bluetooth speaker, so if you want a pleasant workout with your headphones on and music of your choice, forget it.
I understand this is supposed to be an understated neighborhood gym but all of the equipment is severely outdated and is always in need of servicing. There hasn't been a/c for something like 5 years straight and they took equally long to fix jacuzzi that no one uses. Place and equipment is filthy. Staff is constantly pushing private training sessions yet too lazy to turn on the overhead fans when asked repeatedly? This place needs a serious remodel.

But I'll never forget when Robert Townsend (The 5 Heartbeats' movie-director, father in 90's sitcom The Parent 'Hood/Meteor Man) yelled at me, complaining that a $35/month gym-membership was "Waay too expensive and not at all affordable". ---Yet, this guy's ALWAYS SEEN by the locals strutting around town in his black Lincoln Navigator w/ big chrome rims.

Great, not too busy. No nonense
Half of the time AC is either not working or turned off. Weight room is located a floor below (basement room) which is always ten degrees warmer. The same can said about the locker room. Even when it feels okay on the main floor the additional spaces are always really hot!!!

One of the worst LA fitness gyms I've been to. Extremely small, limited equipment and very outdated

The showers leaves nothing to the imagination with no privacy and the drains are stopped up with hair.
I visited this location at least 7 times and I don't understand how LA Fitness can put their name on this building.

The most disgusting and dirty LA fitness club I've ever been. Strongly recommend to close this location.

Please people. If you think this gym is bad, you should see the 24 Hr Fitness in Burbank (Empire Center). At least this LA Fitness gets cleaned and is cozy.

Not too busy around 5-7am and 8-11pm. Around 6pm is when it gets the busiest, and won't be able to find any of the weights or machines you want. But it's a decent sized place with friendly staff.
My local LAFitness has everything I want in terms of equipment. Don't use a trainer so I'm content with the facility. Often busy, but not overcrowded.

Employees are all very overweight and not a good representation of a fitness center. They had a pretty girl at the front desk who was a great front desk representation, gorgeous, polite, helpful but she was fired and replaced with rude, overweight women who are either snacking or on the phone with poor customer service. Showers are dirty and filled with hair.
Great atmosphere, convenience, and staff at this place. They have everything you need, and it's not too crowded either. The personal training program is also something I would highly recommend for anyone who is just getting started on learning how to work out. Many trainers I've worked with don't take the same "building blocks" approach that these guys do. Definitely worth checking out peeps!
This location is horrible an Asian man offered my husband money to sleep with me like if I was a prostitute or something. They an older man offered to scrub my husband's back while in the shower. This was like 2 years ago. 2 days ago, we decided to give it another chance but this time a white mailer with spiky hair asked my husband what his sexual preference is and my husband told him he was married and straight. Despite him saying that he ask my husband if he could "break him in". My husband and I left immediately. It was extremely uncomfortable.

This might be the worst gym I have been a member of. I have been a member for about 2 years and day by day this gym gets worse. It is NEVER clean. Cardio machines are always stained with dry sweat marks. Dirt build ups on the machines because they go for MONTHS never being wiped down by members or cleaning staff. This used to be a Ballys location, which hasn't seen a good cleaning or basic maintenance since the first day Ballys opened, yet alone when LA Fitness took it over. The dust build up is worse than a single 20 yr old males apartment who lacks all personal hygiene. In fact thats what this LA Fitness lacks, Hygiene. The locker room for the men is so old, musty and sweaty I do not understand how people take showers there. I can not even use any of their lockers due to how disgusting they are. I have to walk around the gym with my gym bag in tow. The soap dispensers, when they are full, are filled with water down soap. which i believe is to "reduce" operating costs. The equipment is constantly breaking down, and out of service for weeks. The equipment is sold old, and maintained so poorly that it is rusting from all the dirty seat building up over the YEARS of use. And even if you wanted to wipe down the equipment, half the time paper towels are MIA, or the watered down disinfectant is MIA. I have never seen a gym so poorly maintained that holes constantly pop up in the ceilings leaking water, and god knows what all over equipment and members. I bet If LA Fitness corporate just spent 5 minutes in this gym they would be horribly embarrassed by the state it is in. And instead of finding ways to reduce operating costs, why not properly maintain the facility. That way you can increase your membership base. Its so disgusting that my next review will be sent to the department of health.
