I was excited to find a gym that was relatively close to home, and didn't have the crowded feel of other gyms. I'm only giving two stars because the GM, Tony Allegre, and the other staff, don't care about their clients AT ALL after they get your money. The cost isn't cheap to begin with, and I was willing to pay for the convenience. But to have my rates raised TWO MONTHS after joining feels like a bait and switch, and is no way to do business. It feels like a scam, and made me so uncomfortable I canceled my membership. I'm so upset about the rate being raised, and everyone just passing me off to another employee, until I finally got the GM, whose only response was, "GEE, you should have received an email." That isn't the point. Having my rates raised right after joining is a huge, huge scam. There are other gyms...try Marina City Club or Equinox.

Great gym, good amenities, but the crowd is mostly old people (60+)

I have nothing but great things to say about the Bay Club. I used to be a member of a different gym and it was always a problem with the parking, all the cardio machines being used, the classes were always too full, and the other members were rude. I'm so happy I switch to The Bay Club, the classes are great, there's always plenty of cardio machines available, the people that work there are professionals and very friendly and most of the members are polite.

Best Gym in the Area LA...

I was harassed tonight in the main workout area by a guy on his cellphone talking loudly with earbuds in his ears. He was leaning on the exercise machine I wanted to use, then stepped one machine away, still yakking. I finally walked over and said very politely, " You're not supposed to be on your cellphone here." He said, "Well, I AM." And proceeded to become aggressive with me, I'm a woman. I went downstairs to get help from the front desk guy, saying, "I need your help. There's a man upstairs on his cellphone who's gotten aggressive in the co-ed exercise area.

I thought one reason you can't have a cellphone at the expensive, high-end Bay Club was so you wouldn't be bothered with creepy guys taking pictures of you working out. My husband had been in the pool and asked the desk guy why he didn't intervene. He said because the guy "pays his dues there was NOTHING HE COULD DO."

Way to make a woman feel safe, Bay Club.

I thought members couldn't violate the behavior code and that's why we pay for the high-end experience. Ladies beware, you might not feel safe here. No thanks.

Switched over from LA Fitness and couldnt be happier. Its perfect at its price point (and Ive been a member of Equinox MDR and Equinox Century City). I have never had to wait for a machine, rotate into someone else's set, watch a time limit on a treadmill, awkwardly bump into someone in a crowded locker room or spend more than a second look for parking. I read the reviews and I have to say if youre complaining about stairs then why are you even going to the gym. For those who say its an older crowd, I wouldn't disagree - however if you go enough times you can see all the younger people everywhere... but if you want something more spend twice as much and go to an Equinox.

I've been at this club for over 3 years. And I have to say it's been on a slight decline. The coziness but coolness of what was once Spectrum has been toned down by the new Bay Club owners.

This club is nice, clean, the only thing that holds it back is the unusual demographic of complainers. Unfortunately it takes too much off the enjoyment factor for me, everyone is quick to stick their noses in and complain about infraction of their privacy (when I asked about having a photographer come with me to the gym) - yet walk around butt naked in the changing rooms. Lacking nice people puts me off coming back.
