I have been working out with the Barot brothers for well over a year now and I can't say enough good things about them. I workout avidly and try to switch up what I do on a daily basis so my muscles don't become used to any one exercise. No matter how I mix it up, I'm still sore after working out with the brothers. Every session is different with them and we target a different set of muscle groups each week. With them, I have discovered a new fondness for boxing and look forward to my weekly session with them!

I have trained with Jay in the past and he is awesome! He is patient and understood my limitations so he tailored my training to avoid pain or injury. Some trainers will push but he trusted me and listened when I was concerned about my body.

However, that didn't give me a break! He pushed me hard and because of him, I have made working out a part of my life for the past 2 years and I feel and look better than I ever have! Thanks Jay!!

I would definitely recommend Jay and Jolin. They are great trainers no matter what your level of fitness. I worked out with both for about a year and a half before I got pregnant and continued working out with them through my 8th month of pregnancy and can't wait to go back. They are very attentive to all needs while still getting you in shape and working hard. They have a variety of activities and are very knowledgeable so nothing gets stale or boring. Definitely can't wait to get back in their gym!

Before discovering Barot Bros Fitness, I considered myself to be in pretty good shape. I enjoyed playing basketball, doing yoga, looking up youtube workout videos, and trying my best to read up on what constitutes a healthy diet and sticking to it. I was at the gym playing basketball when I met Jay. Very cool guy. He told me about Barot Bros Fitness and gave me a card, leaving it completely up to me to decide if I wanted to give training a try.
The first consultation/assessment was free, so I thought why not. Remember how I said that I thought I was already in good shape? Wrong. I humbled myself as Jay guided me through many exercises I'd never heard of. Turns out there were so many other muscles I never knew I had, and in just the first visit he helped me tone all of them. Especially with summer right around the corner, I knew these guys were the real deal and could help me achieve that summer bod I always wanted. They took down my initial weight and body fat percentage, asked me what my fitness goals were, and which problem areas I wanted to zap. It really felt as if my goals were their goals. As I continued training with both Jay and Jolin, we worked hard towards those goals and I gradually saw and felt results. I kept a mental record of running times/body fat percentages/ max reps and the numbers don't lie -- I set so many personal records, I had more energy, and even my friends asked what I was doing differently. Consistently training with them and taking their nutrition tips seriously has really paid off. Many people dread working out but with the Barot bros, working out is a fun challenge. For example, since I've gained much more upper body strength, we break out into handstands every now and then and I think I'm getting good! I've also done a few of their Saturday morning boot camps with my friends and I absolutely love the group workout environment. Exercise, yoga, fresh air, fun with friends = best way to jumpstart your weekend.
What I love most about the Barot bros is that they aren't just meathead, gymrat trainers who want to lift heavy and do a million reps, they really get to know you and your lifestyle so that they can tailor a workout plan to fit you perfectly (**they are especially accommodating in regards to your schedule, the only trainers I know who will meet you on time at 6am, with a smile on their face). Humans are creatures of habit; Jay and Jolin promote healthy LIFESTYLES that help create better workout and eating habits, making it easier to not to ditch that New Year's resolution. They love to share delicious AND nutritious recipes they find or come up with themselves, and they have a great taste in music! which almost guarantees good workout music no matter what tunes get you moving.
All in all, it was a no brainer staying with Barot Bros. Besides being incredible, experienced trainers who practice what they preach, they are probably two of the most down to earth people who love what they do and I highly recommend that you just try them out. You don't know what you're missing.

I've been working out with the Barot Bros. for about 7 weeks and I'm 1000% percent (yes, one thousand percent) satisfied with the training they provide and the results I've obtained.

I started working out with Jay and Jolin after going on a trip to Catalina Island. I came home and felt so damn fat and out of shape I didn't know what to do with myself. I hopped on the scale to see how bad the damage was and I was horrified at what I saw.

After finding them on Yelp and checking out their reviews, I gave them a call and did my initial consult the next day. Although the baseline workout wasn't very difficult (well, it shouldn't have been), I basically couldn't do anything - no strength, no endurance, no coordination. I was like that dead seal we saw on the boat ride home - completely bloated and useless.

Fast forward less than two months and I am down about 12 pounds. At one point I was down about 15 pounds but a nasty cold got the best of me. I've lost over 5 percent body fat (the best indicator of whether or not losing weight was actually beneficial for your body), and I feel SO. MUCH. BETTER. My knee stopped hurting, my hips don't ache, my back is stronger and I can go on two hour hikes without hoping a massive fire breaks out in Griffith Park and swallows me whole.

Aside from the workouts and fitness advice, Jay and Jolin are cool dudes, too. Among others, some of the things we have talked about during and post workout include: Bollywood movies, Southern Indian Cuisine, 9/11 conspiracies, and Real Estate.

Payment options are flexible (I pay weekly). Sessions are cheaper if you bring a friend. Scheduling is super easy because Jay and Jolin are both readily available and accommodating. The facility they use is clean and bright, everything works and there's plenty of space for more than one person to work out. (I've only had one other person work out at the same time as me, and we're not in each-other's way at all.) Oh, and they have a sweet Beats stereo that drowns out the awkward sounds you make when you do core-strengthening exercises.

I basically could go on and on about how positive my experience has been at Barot Bros. Fitness but I'm going to cut myself off here - not because I've run out of things to say but because if I say any more nice things it's going to be awkward when I see them on Friday.

GIVE THEM A SHOT, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

"I never really liked working out and was never motivated to do so. But after working out with the Barot Brothers I have a new outlook on exercising. For the last couple of years, I have been working out with Jay, who is truly an excellent trainer. Jay is a very professional, motivating, and inspiring trainer. He knows what to do and how to make one believe in themselves. Every time I feel like giving up, he finds a way to motivate me and push through the workout. Since it's personal training I have seen positive and fast results. Every workout session is different so I never get bored. I would highly recommend both Jay and Jolin to anyone who is serious about working out and meeting their goals. Nowadays, I can say that I enjoy exercising...thanks to the Barot Brothers."
