One of the first group of monks from the real Shaolin Temple to practice outside china
One of the first group of monks from the real Shaolin Temple to practice outside china
I am have been a student here for almost 4 years, and I think that its great. Ignore all the comments about him hitting children. It doesn´t hurt. After he hit you gently he smiles and laughs it off with you. When you first start your body will ache but then it gets used to it. That happens to everyone. Now that I am a purple belt I get to learn more advance things such as flips, more advance weapons, and more hand forms, etc. Once every 6 months there will be a belt test and belt ceremony. Both on different days. First comes the belt test, where he tests you on what you learn and how you do it. ex. strength, stance, flexibility, and speed. Then comes the belt ceremony. The ceremony will be a potluck. Each family brings their own dish. Then shares its with every one. before the meals is the performance. all belt levels will perform their own forms. One belt level can have up to 3 forms. Once you´re up to purple and red belt it can be up to 5 forms depending on the master. Once you´re done with those two, then comes the actual belt ceremony. Students who took the belt test will receive their belts on that day. For an average student in purple belt they can know up to 8 or more forms. Including weapons. Standard weapons you receive as you rank up are the staff, the sword, and the straight sword. More advance weapons include spear, sword and shield, fan, etc. I hope that you all can go check this place out. Google hasn´t changed the work hours yet so this one is wrong. If you have the opportunity to check this place out, you should, it is a fun and safe place to learn self defense and make new friends. If you are an adult and interested in learning, there are adult classes too. There are also Tai Chi classes available.

Ignore all the negative comments. Being strict and mean helps you learn more and grow more discipline.
My kid immediately took immense interest in learning shaolin kungfu after his free trial class. I was surprised because it was quite a workout and obviously a new sport/skill to learn. After we came home he practiced and practiced, and told us that he really wanted to take the classes. He just received his first class and again, came home and practiced some more even though he had worked hard at his first class. I am pleased to see that he liked the challenges of learning new skills. I've also never seen him so focused in a class.
This place is horrible. I will be telling you my experiences here as well as what I saw.
First off, he hits your child. He hits them with sticks, his hands, or his kicks. He often hits you without even telling you what you did wrong. I have been hit by him many times and not once has he given a reasonable explanation about what I did wrong. Also, the things he teaches us are not really useful if you are in a real fight. He also doesn't teach you how to properly fight. Once, I saw him pulling on a little girls hair and it made her cry. Now the weird thing was that the parents did not do anything. They just laughed and took her home. It seems like none of the parents care if their child gets hit. The worst thing I saw him do was not letting his student drink water. Not only did he not let him drink water, he took the kid into the back room and closed the door. I don't know exactly what shifu did to the student but when the boy came out, he looked traumatized. Another reason why you shouldn't step foot in this place is because all the things that you learn here are useless if you are in a real fight. For example, in sparing, he teaches you the same useless things over and over again. You learn the same punches and kicks every time you spar. He also doesn't let you hit the person you are sparring in the face. This is bad because if you are in a real fight, you will not know how to block your face. When I first sparred, I accidentally hit the person in the face. Shifu then punched me in the head for doing that. If he says that we can't hit each other in the head, then why would you hit us in the head? Also, he teaches us forms that are useless in the real world. All he really wants is your money. For example, he gives you a weapon in class, and you have no choice but to take it. The next time you or your parents pay for the month, he tells you that you have pay for the weapon. The weapons are very cheap as well, but cost as much as 50 dollars. You have no choice but to pay it. He also invades your privacy. If you are absent for a week, he will ask you where you were, then he usually hits you. Why should I tell you where I was last week? It's none of you business! Have you noticed that he shows photos of just him? That's because the children in his Kung Fu are not happy. Look, the bottom line is that just because you see a Shaolin monk that is from china, that doesn't mean he is the nicest person in the world, or teaches good Kung Fu, it can mean that he is a business man that wants nothing but your money. I would recommend that you go to other martial arts like Karate, Jui Jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, and anything but this place. In other Martial Arts, you can learn how to defend your self in a real fight. So, if you want your child abused mentally and physically, come here. Otherwise, I would recommend that you stay away from this place. If you come to this location, you are not going to see Kung Fu, you are going to see children getting hit by a man that doesn't deserve to be called a human being.
I thought my kid was the only one got hit by this guy. So this is how they teach kids in China, not here man. Kids should learn confidence and descipline - not abused and total obedient. I can see fear in the kids' eyes when they practiced or taking tests. This guy is only into making money. They will not learn more unless they take private lessons, Summer camp,... Other sports much better for my kid.
Isaiah said please ignore all the negative reviews since those reviews are bogus!!! Isaiah also wants to let you folks know if you want to learn the real deal of traditional Shaolin then come and join us and will get a great workout
