We have been coming to Claycomb Academy for three months, and we absolutely love it. My 6 year old is shy and they are really helping her come out of her shell. She is excited to go, and will always give 100%. The instructors are motivating and encouraging. They do not only teach self defense, but they also take time to teach manners and respect to elders. I highly recommend Claycomb Academy.

I believe that a good martial Arts teacher and practitioner should have an understanding of cultivation of a strong mind to develop confidence. This was a factor in every aspect of my life. Sensei claycomb is one of those special individuals who's understanding for strong mind and spirit cultivation is in full effect and can match up to the effectiveness of the self defense techniques he teaches, a lot of today's so dojos and the called teachers of the arts have forgotten the importance of developing confidence and discipline in a student and focus primarily on techniques. I don't care how good their technique is, the student will never apply the techniques being tought if he's confidence is low. I compete in mma and even though I incorporated muay thai, boxing, and jiu jitsu to my technique my karate base is why I am a technical well disciplined competitor. Osss

I've been coming here with my kids for about 6 months now, and I'm still amazed by how much time and effort they put into their students. This is a family Dojo, with knowledge of all types of martial arts. They have helped us with our every need. Words cannot express my gratitude enough, so I'll just express it in class today.

I was in search of a place to train in martial arts, I came across this dojo by doing some research via the internet, I stopped by the dojo one night on my way home from work to get some information about classes I met Sensei Joseph, he and I talked for close to about 90mins! It was at that moment I knew I would be joining this dojo as a result of Sensei Josephs knowledge and passion for the art as well as his love for people in general. All of my classes have been phenomenal and all instructors are very thorough and extremely knowledgable in Karate! If you are in the Fontana area and you are looking for a place to train do yourself a favor and stop by Claycomb Academy Of Martial Arts! This dojo has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere it is also very family oriented with something to offer everyone!

Shihan Joseph consistently goes above and beyond in his approach to teaching his students, and running his Dojo. He is extremely passionate about his Family, and all of his students in his Dojo. He continues to strive for excellence in offering his students the best in martial arts training. He is a technician in the development and evolution of what is taught in the Dojo. His ability to think outside the box is a contributing factor to the success of his School, as well as an asset to all of his students. If you are in the area, stop in and view his facility. It is clearly among the finest.

Claycomb Academy has been amazing for my son. He is gaining more self confidence and focus every day. He has only been attending for 4 months, but he loves it, begging to go every day. The instructors are wonderful with the kids, not only teaching them karate skills, but life skills as well. I highly recommend this dojo for a great learning experience.

This is the most innovative dojo out there. I've been to many over my 25 year career in martial arts and nothing has had a lasting impact as Claycomb karate. We don't just punch air we hit bags. It feels more like an MMA dojo with karate principles. Workouts are intense but rewarding. The teaching is inspired and you know you're part of something special when you're here. I can't say enough about this place and words won't do it justice you just have to experience it!

Great place to sweat and learn about practical self defense. I myself have been with the dojo for about 2 years and have enjoyed the people and the environment. After every session I feel great and stress free. The instructors are always welcoming and willing to work with you. Would recommend to anyone looking for a dojo.

They have a really good way of teaching, they teach the children in a very efficient way. They even teach break falls like they do in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP).

Sensei Claycomb even has strong ties with UFC Fighter Lyoto Machida and Chinzo Machida his brother. They do an annual day long seminar together, it's awesome learning with Pro Fighters, and Pro Sensei's.

place right here has given me a second chance in life to continue to work hard and challenge myself as a athlete. I just want to say that I played football and football did jot work out for me. There was this one day in college, after football practice when I went up to the defensive line coach and ask . Why are you not playing me don't I work hard enough, and all he told me was that I was just like you and did not play a single college football game so just enjoy it I mean you be good as a coach. Now as hard as I work to humbly say I was hurt and wanted to quit because through out football I earn my spot by grinding and busting my ass 24/7 just to hear someone except being mediocre or allow someone to judge your life. So my 2 nd year of being on the bench has ended at college, and I spend two years of not working out and got out of shape. Until one day I said you know what I need to train and build character. So I look online and see claycomb karate and talk to a nice man name shihon Joseph, and he told me to come in and join the class ever since than I kept going and finally understood what it ment to train and to never give up on life. So I join a gym than I come to this facility where you can to loose wait work out and train and build a character. And learn the fundamentals of karate which is awesome. I recommend going here to claycomb karate because this place got my spirits of attitude and work efforts back to when I was a football captain in high school. So I thank God for this place because in life there always something that keeps a person going, and I can say that this place and karate keeps me going. Oss!

Hard to find a place like it. My son and I spent some years here before we moved out of the area. The instruction is excellent, well rounded and forward thinking. With practical, application based techniques and excersizes as a focal point, one can gain a solid understanding of one's own ability and the effectiveness of the techniques. The instruction is based as much in functional technique ideas as is possible, rather than strict adherence to form only. Though everything tought is founded on well tried and true form ideas, application is the key element. The instructors are always advancing their own education with other professional fighters, as well as providing opportunities for students to attend instructive and excellent seminars. The facility is amazing, well thought out and maintained very nicely, with all the equipment needed for a great training experience. I had the opportunity over the years to help do some maintenance and construction in the facility, and sort of leave my mark on the dojo, it was an honor and wonderful experience. I would have been glad to train here as long as I would have been able to do so.

Claycomb Academy of Martial Arts is an excellent dojo operated by Joseph Claycomb, and his daughter Xena and son Michael. About a year ago, I enrolled my grandson Jayden, who was 6 years old at the time. They provide different levels of training depending on the age group. The instructors teaching the children are Xena and Michael, who literally grew up in this environment. They display remarkable patience with the children while teaching them karate techniques. The instructors also focus on developing the children's social skills such as listening, focusing, adhering to the rules, showing respect and manners, and building confidence. All while encouraging the children to be great leaders and role models in the community. If your child is lacking in any of the aforementioned characteristics, I encourage you to visit Claycomb Academy of Martial Arts.

Such an awesome business. Our son has grown and is developing into a great young man. We love Claycomb Academy of Martial Arts. We believe in the philosophies they teach our now two children that attend classes here.

The children's classes have a good variety of skills for my kids to learn. So far my kids have learned traditional karate, practical or reality-based karate, self defense, and bag/mitt strikes. Their emotional confidence has increased as well as their physical coordination. These classes keep them off their video games for an hour (at least!) and they are learning something useful.

This is by far, one of the best places you can train in. Whether you like traditional, or newer MMA style, this place is it. I like the well lit, clean and well equipped environment.
The staff are welcoming and the instructors are knowledgable and kind. The kids program is a great workout and teaches many social as well as life skills. You sweat alright, and you will love everything you need to protect yourself, while having fun.

My DAD and I joined the Father and Son Program, I LOVE IT! We get to spend so much more time together. I now look forward to Monday's and Wednesday's and sometimes dropping in my DAD's adult classes as well.

To be honest the warm-up kills me and at times I feel like quitting. BUT to be clear, I'm never forced to go beyond my abilities. It's nice to hear Shihan Joseph say, "JUST DO YOUR BEST".

My son has been taking karate classes at the dojo for about a year now and it has made a big improvement with his confidence and self esteem. I'm really happy with all the great support my Son has been receiving from the staff. Thank you.
