Must admit I'm a little surprised to see all the bad reviews on here. I think for the number of members CFF has, it is probably not that bad. I love the Cal-Fit gyms. I went to Laguna and Elk Grove the most frequently -def EG more the last couple years. While no longer a member because I went to a gym with hours more suitable for my late-night schedule, I still love CFF and miss it. The EG gym looks dated, I know they just spent a lot of time sprucing up the interior, but a lot of the equipment, especially all that cardio stuff on the stop floor that doesn't have fans, are or look outdated. That being said, they do have a decent variety of machines to choose from -whether you're looking for ridged foam rollers, to squat racks, to cardio machines, or TRX. They have a whole back section of more HIIT oriented gear but more importantly they have a sauna, steam room, and multiple outdoor pools. Laps at the EG pool is refreshing and even when busy, you don't have to wait too long for a lane. I'm not into group activities, but I did the yoga classes a couple times and really enjoyed it. I know a few folks who did the Body Fit group training who enjoyed the routines, timing, coaching and results. I started at CFF several years ago with a personal trainer (at the Laguna gym) who was outstanding and very honest about what the extent of her knowledge was, what good resources were and how to assess and push myself long-term. Still a big fan of CFF, but they're a family gym and not necessarily geared towards younger folks who want to workout late-night.
