Love this gym!! Clean, great classes, awesome instructors and trainers! I have never been a huge fan of his, but, I really enjoy my time at Crunch! Tasha and Kristina are great!! Love classes with Lauren, Kelly and Teresa!!! Head on over to Crunch on Jamacha and give it a try!!!

I have been to almost every crunch in the San Diego area and this is the only other one than in Carlsbad that has pool. I would have given it 5 stars but I have seen cleaner shower areas. The machines are up to date and it has a 2nd floor. The feel is inviting though. It's one of the only gyms I'm not self conscious about walking into at anytime.

They just fixed a bunch of machines that us regulars have been complaining about, so that's why I gave a 5 star review. The morning regulars are nice. However the evening crew, like most gyms are young so pick what time you train. I enjoy going in the morning because the regular guests are very nice.

Customer service was lacking. Overall atmosphere was somewhat gloomy and dull. I was expecting more.

Terrible: I work out here because depending on the time you'll have a good experience. But, watch out, there is a huge surplus of a certain clientele that really, really believe they are the only people working out and will often hustle you (physically sometimes) off equipment, or harass you with their friends, and or just literally stand right behind you until you give in or give up. I'm a big person, physical I mean, patience-wise I've had it with this gym. The worst are the employees, no one will take responsibility to change anything.

You're better off running laps outside, or a couple push-ups at home. I mean it, not worth it.

I like this gym. Everyone is nice, and I don't feel out of place. The staff is helpful and my trainer Eddy is great to work with. Already feeling better after just a month, no more soreness every morning getting out of bed! Clean and they machines seem to be maintained. I have not seen any out of order yet. You must try the hydro massage!

UPDATE 01/10/18: I've been coming regularly for months. Nothing has changed or improved since my review. I'll be switching gyms later this year.

DECENT gym with everything you'd need, at a reasonable price but try to finish your workout by 5pm.

When it's packed at peak hours, sometimes it feels like you're in a steam room. The air is thick and gross.

Place is generally ABSURDLY LOUD with many people talking and unnecessarily loud music.

Bring water bottle. I've seen the same orange supplement stain on one of the main drinking fountains for days before.

CRAMPED SPACE.

Two stairs can take you to the second story, but no elevator.

I've never seen so many small groups of people hanging out and chatting. It looks like a high school gym with people camping on equipment they aren't even using. I attribute this to their "buddy pass" membership option - I've never seen this at other non crunch gyms.

MUSIC IS ALWAYS TOO LOUD. I CAN HEAR ALL THE LYRICS TO THE MUSIC THEY BLAST, THROUGH MY HEADPHONES. EVERYONE IS EITHER WEARING HEADPHONES OR TALKING, SO WHY IS IT SOOOO LOUD?????

The group class space has recently been closed and isn't accessible during non-classes. This is a bad move with the gym already being small and cramped.

Poor gym etiquette. Plate weights sprawled out. Little ones with their parents have to walk to the back of the gym where the daycare is located most people don't clean up after themselves.

Staff seems fair. They occasionally do a sweep around the gym for stocking paper towels and putting equipment back, etc.

If you're coming from 24 hour fitness or LA Fitness, where the vibe and space is dramatically more serious and better in my opinion, STAY WHERE YOU ARE, or test the gym with a free pass to see what I mean first-hand.

I'd rather spend the extra money to workout in a better environment but I'll see if I can make it work for now. I may go back to my old gym after the first year if nothing improves.

The staff is nice (mostly) the gym has a nice set up and lots of equipment. Love it!

April 24, 2018 23:54

Very clean and up to date equipment. Friendly staff and great pricing with flexible plans.

April 21, 2018 00:15

Went with my son in a guest pass. Nice facility

April 17, 2018 20:53

Great gym, love the amenities. Should have tennis court that would make it awesome :)

Need more zumba class, one lady on Mon mornings is so fun, and energetic. There's so many classes and daycare makes the membership worth it.

I question the sanitary of it though, I watch so many not clean after themself. Good thing I wipe down before and after.

Very crowded between hours of 7-9p.m

April 16, 2018 02:37

Rude staff, however, the manager is nice. Always crowded. No customer service.

March 30, 2018 20:38

Good equipment. A good gym to go to provides a lot of stuff and the staff is extremely kind

Scum bags...canceled membership TWICE...they are still billing me...won't fix their problems. Total scum bags.. Hope everyone of them get what they deserve... Low life's.

January 2, 2018 23:07

Gym is not clean... Staff needs to work on keeping the equipment sanitizes. The building is too hot for the amount of people working out! Won't go back to this Crunch.

December 15, 2017 01:11

Great staff and tons of machines often duplicates, this gym would be a great solid 5 but they decided to take away access to one of the main rooms where people can do core exercises. Now it's too crowded to find a mat or even a spot to do core work outs. Im paying for a room I'm not allowed to use doesn't make sense. strongly considering switching gyms.

It's a great gym with great staff. The gym building is a little run down but I have seen them repainting. The gym equipment there is amazing I love the option of the pool and jacuzzi. Overall I think it's great. Can get crowded around usual times though.

The low stars isn't due to the gym itself or the staff but from the other members, gym etiquette sucks here, period.
1) location, convenient for me as I live down the street, but on Jamacha, easy to see, lots of parking
2) Facilities, over all, worn down a bit but I see a lot of cleaning, and rarely have I seen a machine down for long. Bathrooms could use a bit more frequent cleanings, but i also blame the members. You don't need to make a mess to get clean. Pool is cool, and the chlorine is good, not over powering.
3) Classes. I do Yoga on Monday through Thursday. I like the instructors and for the most part the classes are fun and challenging, maybe stick to Monday Hatha for beginners as the classes have regulars and although they make a effort to welcome beginners, it can be over whelming and hard to keep up. Friendly and genuine. I have no input for other classes yet
4) Equipment, everything you need, but I would like some more room for the heavy bags and MMA.
5) Staff, no issue but then again I am adorable so I rarely have issues.
6) Members. Two words: Gym Etiquette. enough said.

October 25, 2017 13:18

Been going here for a year or so. Staff is friendly, funny, and welcoming. Great price compared to other gyms and is pretty big in size as well. I pay $25 a month (for a 3 month summer membership) and have access to all classes, equipment, the massage rooms, tanning, and can bring a guest. Thanks Crunch!

October 25, 2017 13:18

This place is awesome. I finally have a 24 hour gym to go to that is not costing me an arm and a leg. I wish the pool was open 24 hours since I get out of work late.

October 25, 2017 13:18

Good gym with everything you'd need, at a reasonable price but try to finish your workout by 5pm.

After 5pm:

Place is generally loud with many people talking and loud music. I signed up to save money and now I might need to buy quality noise canceling headphones.

Cramped space with everyone around and since gym closes 10pm (weekdays), it leaves a small window to workout.

Also, I've never seen so many small groups of people hanging out and chatting. It looks like a high school gym with people camping on equipment they aren't even using.

Poor gym etiquette. Plate weights sprawled out. I've even seen teens running through the gym.

If you're coming from 24 hour fitness, where the vibe and space is dramatically more serious and better imo, this isn't the place for you, unless you're able to workout before 5pm.

I'd rather spend the extra money to workout in a better environment but I'll see if I can make it work for now.
