The customer service at smart gym is awful. They charged me a cancellation fee, even though I never renewed my contract.

My personal trainer, Mo, is great. He put together an eating plan, gives me great guidance, workout regimes, and really cares about your advancement.

However, the actual business is ridiculous. They (not the trainer, who just shows up to work out with you) overcharged me 180 bucks, and seemingly cannot refund that. I am literally paying almost $400 a month and they seem NOT to care.

Also, the 9.99 fee comes with many other fees attached. I was once told that since this is Scottsdale, we get charged more. A lot of the other programs seemingly have disappeared to make way for a $70 a month XGT.

Trainers are great, who unfortunately have to deal with a bunch of clueless front office folk.

I wish I could give this company zero stars. They are thieves and run a unsafe environment for children. I came in September to cancel my membership because a care worker in the daycare traumatized my child to the point where I couldn't even drive by the gym with out him freaking out and crying. I asked my four year old what happened and the only thing I could get out of him was that she forced him to take pictures. So I could no longer use the gym anymore (the classes are great so I guess that justifies their one star). When I went to cancel they tried to convince me not to and once I explained to them they said oh no worries sign here and We will take care of it. Come November they are still charging me!!! They have charged me three times since I canceled and when I call in they told me that they have a new it system and they will have to call me back. I can't believe they are this inconsiderate considering it was their worker that made me have to leave the gym. I feel like charging when you leave this gym seems to be a trend with these people maybe they think that considering the area no one will notice if they just slowly bleed your bank account.

My husband and I are from out of town. Yesterday morning, we called smart gym to ask for the weekly rate. A girl picked up (7:52am) and told us that it would be $20. When we went there at 11am, I walked in and said, "we'd like two one week passes". The girl turned to what seemed like her manager and said, "they're from out of town and want one week passes". The manager said that they don't do one week passes. When we mentioned that we had just called 3 hours prior and received the quote of $20, both of them put up a fight saying no one would have said that. They insisted that the two of them were the only ones that would have answered the phone.

I question how the (non manager) girl knew that we were from out of town, since I never said that when I walked in... Other than the fact that she was probably the one who answered the phone and misquoted us. My husband and I could have made the situation more uncomfortable, but honestly, based on principle, I cannot support an establishment that employs people who lie. I would have accepted if the girl had said that she had made a mistake, but to lie about the whole thing demonstrated poor character and customer service.

To their credit, the manager like person did offer to give us a free one day trial. But again, based on principle, I just couldn't continue to be at that establishment-even if it's free.

Love my neighborhood Smart Gym! XGT is an awesome class that will get you in shape but can be modified until you get strong enough for elite level work. This gym has the right atmosphere, machines and free weights. Also spin if you are into that. I plan on being a member as long as I am in Phoenix. Thanks Smart Gym staff, you do a great job and make my day every day!

Smart Gym is the best gym in Scottsdale, hands down.
The equipment is new and well maintained, very clean gym. When I first joined, Leander one of the trainers was especially helpful. They want the customers to be happy, best kept secret in Scottsdale!

My experience at the Smart Gym in Scottsdale has been by far, better than many facilities I have joined. I recently joined the gym, but due to a work reassignment, I had to cancel my membership. I paid in advance and though I am leaving before the expiration of my terms, the manager was very accommodating and treated my situation individually and not as just revenue.

Every day I was greeted upon arrival and departure! I believe the patrons are courteous because of the tone established by the management and staff. Amazingly clean and well maintained!

Other facilities will certainly be measured by the standards of the Smart Gym in Scottsdale.

Okay great medium sized gym not the big box feeling with great lighting and great clean equipment, I give it 5 Stars except it's lacking in heavy leg equipment like a hack squat or V squat machine but for upper body work and cardio and circuit style training is terrific and has everything you need. As a professional figure athlete in the ifbb this is one of my to home gym choice

Because exercise was always last on my "to-do" list and I never quite got to it, I decided I needed the commitment of a gym membership and I began to shop around. The first one I visited put me off to such a degree that I never visited another one for 6 months. When I came in to Smart Gym, Johnny was so personable and convincing that I not only joined on the spot, I paid for the year up front. My initial consult with Carol was eye-opening and I signed on with Bobby Cooke for a year. He is a great motivator and, if he doesn't kill me in the process, I am learning a lot from him-exercises, nutrition, what my body can and cannot do! I have not had the confidence to join a class yet, but hope to do so in the coming year. I have however, become much stronger, nimble and have lost 14 pounds! Dan and staff are very friendly and I (almost!) look forward to coming in a few times a week as well as for my weekly training session. I do love that I have finally done something good for my health and well-being.

I enjoy going to smart gym, equipment is in good shape, clean, & most equipment is always available. I wish the hours on the weekend were a little later because I work night shift it would be convenient for me for later hours on weekends. Price is very reasonable and there is a good variety of classes available. I can't comment on staff because I haven't used a trainer but everyone seems to be friendly. A couple of the front desk people weren't knowledgeable with a few questions I had but that wasn't a big deal. Overall, I am happy with smart gym.
