The new renovations of the machine are a welcome change. However, the layout is now rather odd. Previously, there was one weights section exclusively for legs and one section exclusively for upper body. Now, it's all mixed up together, so there can be a bit of a learning curve finding where your favorite machines are.
Also, tell me I'm not the only one that noticed this..but why are the machines places so we now have to make awkward eye contact? It makes me giggle everytime I see that.
For instance, the quad machine is now facing directly towards the free weight section. The unassisted pull up bars are facing smack dab with the StairMaster machines.
Regardless of that, the second floor is nice (as most La Fitness in the Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tempe are don't have one). The second floor is entirely dedicated to cardio machines and there's more than enough to go around for everyone. Also, I love how their swimming pool is next to huge windows so you can see the street view.
Just keep in mind, that if you are coming here around 5 pm on a weekday, expect a large crowd and the parking lot will be full. If you want to avoid the crowd, go earlier on a weekday before 7 (?) or go after late afternoon on a weekend.
