It was a nice gym to go to. However, during a pandemic / national emergency, they DID NOT change their policy of having to physically come in to freeze/cancel a membership. Very socially irresponsible for this current time when have been advised to quarantine.
I contacted my local club and they said having to physically come in was due to "security reasons". When I went to cancel my membership, they did not ask me for my ID or any validation - so there are no "security reasons" and this could have been done over the phone. I also called their corporate office to discuss this policy. They said someone would call me back. I never received a call.
I would've just frozen my membership if they allowed it over the phone. But due to putting their members at risk, I decided to cancel.
Convenient location but the microfiber towels are terrible. I regularly go to 4 locations and this is the only one that uses them for some reason. So frustrating
Pretty bad. Looks nice when you take the tour but once I joined I started noticing all the details. They never have any disinfectant wipes despite having multiple (empty) dispensers. So, machines are quite dirty and dripping with other people's sweat. If you look at the windows they are also filthy, with stuff (I'm assuming sweat) splattered, dripping, and dried on the inside (outside is dirty too but I don't really care about that). Is always quite hot inside the gym and i think they use fragrance to cover up the smell in the gym. I pay an annual fee for maintenance and cleaning but it's clear it's not used for that!
Great place to work out. Very popular with a good amount of services. Property is not the reason for review, management is.
While talking with them of cancelling your services if you have personal training, do not believe them or assume they will do the best for you. I've been talking of cancelling my services since october and they decided to wait for a new month after my contract ended in november to tell me that I have to sign paper work for cancelling. Effectively requiring you to pay for another month. All so they could get another 200+ dollars for you since they didn't tell you about it.
Take the initiative and request this paperwork if they have you on a contract as they may try to do this to you as well. Make sure because they will auto-renew you without needing to contact you. I feel scammed by white lies that they were trying to do good by me.
Came to Mountainside Fitness from the LA Fitness on Mill and Southern as soon as my 3 year pre-paid was up because it's a more convenient location for me. Mountainside is so much nicer, even after LAF's recent renovation. The equipment is newer, the layout is really well thought out, towel service is a plus, and the location on the lake is amazing for being able to do outside cardio and even just for nice views while in the gym. They provide free bikes if you want to do outdoor biking.
The front desk people are nice and truly want to help you out with any questions you might have. I took the HIIT class there while on a free guest pass, and the teacher was great at keeping everyone motivated and pumped. I know I definitely got a good sweat on for that class.
I did not sign up for this gym however due to it being a bit on what feels to be on the pricier end and the studio for classes and the gym itself just seems a bit small.
Amazing location the views are priceless. Nice staff great smoothies. Clean bathrooms I go 5x a week. Love this location.
So I want to write this review while things are still fresh in my mind. This just happened few hours ago at MS Tempe location. I have been member of MS for over a year now and I have used 4 of their locations during this time and never had any issues or problems until today in fact my whole experience has been nothing but pleasant. Now about the incident today; so as usual I got there around 5:30 PM and got on the treadmill that I like and always try to get on it as it has nice handles and the incline goes up to 18-20. 20 minutes into my work out a trainer came over and placed a reserved card on the treadmill I was using. The reservation was for a 6 o'clock class which means I have to terminate my workout and move to a different machine which by the way does not have handles and the incline goes up to 15 only. I informed the trainer I am not moving as I was on the machine first and per my contract the machines are first come first serve. She left and a little while later came back with another employee who tried to argue with me and insisted I should move to a different machine, I also told him what I told the other employee I am not moving as I pay the same amount that any other member pays including the folks from 6 o'clock and asked him to call his manager as I want to talk to a manager. First he told me that's not possible and I should be courteous to the trainer and the class. I told him I am not moving because neither one of them have given me a valid reason. At this point I was at 30 minute mark of my work out and really didn't want to create a scene so I moved to different machine. A little while later the manager came her name is Carissa she also tried to give me completely useless and pathetic excuse that it is assumed that certain treadmills are reserved for classes, I asked to either show that in the contract I signed or show me a sign on the floor that say members are required to yield to class even if they are already in the middle of their workout which obviously she was unable to produce. At this point I asked Carissa to give me the name and number of her supervisor and she told me she can't do that but she will take my name and number and the COO of the company will call me, let's see if that actually happens.
At the other locations of MF I have seen them placing reserved cards on the machine when there was nobody on them and I have always respected and used other machines that were not reserved. I think the employees of Tempe location did not handle this situation correctly. I will be very anxiously waiting for a call from the COO of MS and discuss this with him/her in more detail.

My only pain point is it is a new gym and they can't seem to figure out the group fitness schedule. I got the membership primarily for group classes, and there seem to be changes every few weeks.
This has made it challenging to get into a routine. I do understand there needs to be ROI for having an instructor come, but it's frustrating as a member to have the schedule constantly change.

The gym is small compared to most Mountainside's. It is 2 stories and parking is kind of confusing the first time. They do not validate parking but the first 2 hours are free. You cannot currently book classes through the app but according to the staff their classes never get full enough to need to reserve a space.

This review is for the actual gym. It's alright. It's clean but it's something about the atmosphere and this goes for most locations of mountain side fitness, I'm not sure if it's the grey walls with the red decor or what but it's just a stale atmosphere. Only select employees say bye when your leaving. The good: bumper plates :-) major negative if you are at the gym more than 2 hrs you pay for parking (I know who is there longer than 2 hours? I was the other day) lol
In short... I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! : ) Nice equipment, super convenient location, never crowded at the times I go, and the staff is over-the-top helpful and friendly. Thank You!!!
You can only workout for two hours or they will charge you parking. The facility is a maze and has minimal equipment. Very disappointing. Steam room smells like mold and the showers literally have green all over them. They don't care about the customer experience they care about making money. Period
Very modern and well designed facility. This welcome work environment has great landscaping and good views of the city. The food in the cafe is of good quality and more features are being added. Definitely recommend swinging by, even if you are not a State Farm Employee.
I love mountainside, but this one is really small! Has a majority of what you're looking for, but no tvs on a majority of their treadmills unlike the other mountainsides I'm used to, and no room for wall balls in the CoreFit area. But besides that, the gym is modern and clean, beautiful views of the lake, great equipment (especially the iFit incorporation on some treadmills) and steam room in the locker rooms is great too.

Beautiful facilities! Extremely modern and brand new. State Farm has themselves an impressive site.
