Easy parking, plenty of equipment, mostly very clean although the hot tub could be monitored more often.

Good gym, everything you might need for a good workout. Lot of people, specially beginning of the year with all the new year resolutions but did not have any problems getting on the machines I wanted. Would be 5 star if they had a steam room but they only have a sauna. They also have a hot tub and large pool so that's a plus.

Nice atmosphere, the staff is very nice. They have a great selection of group classes in addition to the normal gym equipment. Very convenient location and they keep up with the maintenance.

I like this LA Fitness for the reason that it has more upper body weight machines than any other ones I've gone too (not counting the one in Mesa Riverview). They recently renovated here, so they redid the flooring and I think they might have revamped some of the machines too.
The stretching area that used to be in front of the treadmills is now replaced with a turf with is supposedly reserved for personal training. (Seems like a bit of an awkward spot to train if everyone on the cardio machines are watching you.)
My only other gripe for this spot is sometimes the pool has a little bit of dirt settling on the bottom and the spa has this icky foam that bubbles up and sometimes has dirt in it.
Nonetheless, I am going to give them an extra star due to their good service. Yoga classes here are pretty good; love the teacher who teaches on Tuesday and Thursdays. Also, the front desk people are usually friendly and happily greet and say bye to people as they head out. James the trainer there is also a good pretty good guy; he helped me reverse a charge that accidentally got charged for training by working his manager on it.

I want to appreciate the amazing efforts the trainers of this gym put on their customer's health and I want to thank them for making me fit by giving me full attention. I have been to a number of gyms in the past and none of them can match the class of this one.

When the Baseline LA Fitness closed, we were disappointed that we'd have to travel a little ways for our workouts, but they keep improving this spot. Seems every time we go, we discover something new we love about it. We generally take the spin and yoga classes (they're all great), in addition to fitting in workouts when we can't make the classes. The front desk staff in the morning always seems sleepy, but always friendly.

Good variety of equipment, calm set up. It's slightly different than the other LA fitness gyms in the phoenix metro area as far as it's rectangular rather than a square two story building. Clean as well

They helped me to get results that I did not know I needed or wanted.  The talented and so-likeable crew of trainers at this gym and the endless range of customized workouts that they craft for every client makes all difference.  These guys perfectly balance the nutritional and fitness coaching, inspiration, encouragement!

David/James/Brian is a master personal trainer at the gym, and he's wonderful. He's worked with my boyfriend for years and has helped him achieve certain goals during that time. I signed up a few months ago for the training, and while costly, if you put the time in he'll help and not waste your money. He knows what he's doing and has helped set up a personal workout plan per every three months. After which he changes it up to keep your body changing. During the time I've been working out with him I've seen my ability to lift heavier weights go up, my endurance has increased, and my pant size has gone down (was at 36/37 and now at 32/33 waist pant size). I highly recommend that you check the gym out and if ready to make a commitment hit up the guy with three first names.

Good gym with good selection of equipment. Less crowded than other gyms I've visited.

But they seriously need to upgrade/repair the equipment! Aside from a few new dumbbells everything in this place looks old enough to have a driver's license.

Edit: Water from fountains smells like floor cleaner 24/7.

This is an expensive facility. I'm paying an average of $1 a day and am able to go to any gym nationwide with access to weights, thread mills, bikes, yoga, spinning, a large pool, sauna, and specially the hot tub. There are other things that are available and included like the basketball courts, tenis courts, and probably other things I've never cared to see.

Probably the best LA Fitness I've visited. I don't know about the strange claims some people have here, the staff LEAVES YOU TO YOURSELF, unless you engage them. If you're there on a free pass, yes, they will want to speak to you to ask you to join. File that under, "Duh," if you haven't figured out the point of free passes LoL

The point is, the machines are great, there's lots of space, everyone I interact with is polite and helpful, and there's even a snack bar. Never had a single sales pitch until I asked for training plans. Go, enjoy.

CRAZY stuff about the lockers getting broken into--you mean they can't fix or purchase lockers that are safer? I originally wrote this review 3 years ago and nothing has changed! Every couple weeks there are 3-5 lockers in the Men's Locker Room broken into. In many cases they pry the door right off.

Plus my biggest complaint about the whole chain is THEY DON'T RECYCLE PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES! Corporate Management said: "We obey local laws." REALLY? That's the best you have in 2015??? At the same time, they encourage members to sign up for online billing and payment because "it's good for the environment!" REALLY? Even the Pure Fitness locations they bought out and closed used to recycle plastic water bottles! Yeah, these guys at LA Fitness are "the best!"

UPDATE:
The men's locker room situation is a little better. Now, only on average ONE locker is broken into a week--usually by having the door ripped off. Maybe this is progress. Yet, I still don't understand why this problem can't be solved. It does not happen at other local branches! I mean, everyone has to clock in, and I assume a member discovers his locker was broken into within an hour of it happening. The gym KNOWS who were the people most likely there at that time. How hard could it be to identify a few people who were in the gym when multiple break-ins happened? Or, why not put a video camera right outside the men's locker room? That gives more information about who was in the locker room at any given time. This use of technology doesn't affect privacy in the locker room, and could be another step toward capturing the culprit(s).

Poorly managed facility
Basketball courts are terrible. You spend more time sliding up and down than actually running.

Improve by knowing what your patrons want in terms of a well run facility. Improving the courts often are a good start.

Don't ever sign up with LA fitness. There cancelation policy is shady and if you sign up and move they will do everything in their power to not let you out of your membership and will continue to charge your account long after you've moved away. I am currently in an ongoing bank dispute with them over this issue. Avoid this gym at all costs. This has by far been the worst gym experience I've ever had.

October 19, 2017 10:21

Not the worst la fitness I've been to by any means. It's usually not too crowded and the place is pretty clean. Lots of cardiovascular equipment, free weights have there own section like most gyms and overall a good layout.

Trainers were extremely pushy on starting a plan. And got frustrated when I couldn't afford it. Good place to work out but staff needs to work on their social skills ALOT. If you don't buy their plan they shoe you out he door..

I went to this location with a friend to check it out and see if I wanted to sign up. She is a long-time member, so I just wanted to use a daily pass to get a feel for the place before committing. The staff member I spoke with, Amanda, was SO rude. She was essentially trying to bully me into signing up. She gave me such an attitude when I explained that I wanted to see the place before paying a $100 start up fee and $29.99 per month- reasonable, right? Apparently not to her. She didn't even offer to show me around or tell me about the facility. I feel like when you're trying to sell a membership to someone, you should at the least tell them what makes your facility so great. Then she accused me of "not being serious about going to a gym" because I wouldn't just hand her my credit card the second I walked in the door. Honestly I probably would have signed up, but after my experience with her, NO THANKS. I'll find somewhere else that cares about more than taking my money. The only thing this place had going for it was that it was clean.

I have an LA Fitness membership and I love it, but I will never return to this LA Fitness. The staff is incredibly rude and lazy. I have had many occasions where they have been rude to me but today was the last straw. The kids club is awful and they continue to push back the hours. When I first started going here their hours were from 8-12 like all other LA fitness. Then they pushed back to 830 and now it's 9. They do this all without posting a sign on the doors or letting you know when you go. So this morning I went there for the 830 class thinking that I would be able to drop my kids off right at 830, but that was not the case. I missed my class, which I could have done at another location that has kids club. The girls who work the kids club are always on their phones and never interacting with the kids. On multiple occasions we have had to wait for the people working the kids club because there were late. One time I went to pick up my 1 year old son and he was outside the gate and trying to get out the door to get out of the kids area. I sat and watched to see how long it would take them to realize he had escaped. It took them 5 mins to realize he was trying to open the door and get him back inside the kids club. Needless to say I'm extremely dissappointed in everything about this location. They definitely cater to college students because they are so close to ASU and then don't care one bit about parents with kids.... But I highly recommend the Mesa Riverview location especially for kids club.
