The staff will ignore you if they find out you are an ASU student. The partnership seems to be a joke. Thankfully, I don't enjoy working out on the YMCA side so I avoid them. The equipment is old and outdated. The building itself needs to be updated. It's hard for me to write this review because I used to enjoy the fitness classes (especially yoga) very much years ago as an undergraduate student.
Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA has one of the best customer service I've ever received!
I will tell you something. There is a shortage of old, cool, hip looking buildings in Phoenix. At the Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA you will get to experience a real cool, old hip looking building. The entire place is so cool looking on the inside and built so differently from any new building you may see now and days.
Very clean/tidy place, staff hospitality can be hit/miss, but very helpful no less.
For 8 years I paid membership, and was treated like anybody,even though I'm disabled and use a scooter. Then when my insurance began paying, that made a big difference, a180. Now they treat me like an intruder, pretend to like me, if there's a treat around they'll look at me with such a bitter way. They are very unkind to me now. They don't even want me to use the free water that is supplied from the city,or an organization. I'm elderly,and gave an old persons body, I need to use the facility for my Healthcare because it helps,under my health practioners orders. This is near my home,1 block. When I follow directions made by my doctor I obey, I have friends here, and can't drive anymore, otherwise I would leave. People like me,young and old if I were you I'D there's anyplace else for you go there.

After my initial incident I have had nothing but excellent service here. Just don't park in the lot without having the proper credential.

Great gym. I come here in the mornings before work. I really enjoy the spin classes and there are always open treadmills. The indoor pool is great for lap swimming, and the lap swimming hours are amazing compared to some other facilities. Everyone is friendly, and they even provide towels, which is awesome.

I do not recommend this facility at all. They allow the homeless to smoke Marijuana in the back area on the YMCA grounds. The front desk staff cannot answer simple questions about the facility. They play dumb because for that demographic being stupid is "cool". I don't know if those kids noticed but there is a university just down the street. I suggest they look into it. Management is as clueless as the 15 years old's attending the front desk and is the status quo at this YMCA location.

I like working out in the very early morning, and this wasn't open (during the summer) until 7AM - so I didn't visit as often as I would have liked too.

This location is very nice; however, my 14 year old son and I were hoping for a big outdoor pool like many of the YMCA locations in Las Vegas have. It appears they have a lit of room to add a nice big pool (of course I say this not knowing the legalities), but it would make this location 5 Stars!
Had to bring my son down here for a YMCA aquatics meeting. Very pleasant people at the front desk, easy to find, and ample parking in the rear of the building. Right on 1st Avenue, so it's centrally located to pretty much everything in Phoenix.
