I needed to find a place to take my daughter to for one week, that is all. I have heard of the YMCA, I decided to give it a shot.
The staff is friendly. The facility seems clean, however, I am disappointed and they have a major lack of communication.
I had submitted some basic information online to be contacted on a Wednesday, and I was contacted the next day. Tony, the director of this location called me. He was friendly, and gave me an over view of what was offered there, I let him know I would be in later that day to get her signed up. He let me know I would need to fill out some paper work, which I expected.
When I got to this facility that evening, the staff seemed helpful but wasn't really listening to my needs. I explained to them what I was enrolling my daughter for, they gave me paperwork, I filled it out while i was there, and learned that I needed to provide vaccine records, not a big deal but wish Tony had expressed that on the phone to me. Once I finished the paperwork and handed it to the staff they then realized that I was enrolling for a different program and had to fill out a different packet.
After I got the correct paperwork signed, the fee was correct, but there was a fee no one explained to me until payment, which was for a T-Shirt to be worn on field trips, again, just wish Tony had told me about this on the phone.
After all was signed up, I asked what days her field trips were, so I could make sure to have her in the shirt. They told me I would get all the details her first Monday. Great.
Monday came. Got her to YMCA, signed in and in the morning room. Then I get all the papers for the week of the activities each day and what was needed to bring, wish they gave me to these 3 days earlier when I had enrolled her, because she needed a swimming suit, water and towel on the day I dropped her off. I had to go home to get these items and bring them back, making me over 30 minutes late to work.
Tuesday comes. Check the list before going to the Y, and she has all that is needed, so I thought. We get there, and find out that she could have gotten snacks at the field trip but it required cash for the day. I did not have cash on me, and was not able to run and get cash before work to get to my daughter. Again, not informed of something she needed, and was not on their information sheet for the week.
I haven't finished out the week, but i really hope everyday doesn't go like this. And I really hope that my daughters care is better than the lack of communication being given to me.
