The DePalmas's dojo is awesome. Great place to learn karate skills and other techniques. The sensei is great with the kids and make the kids want to be there. They teach quite a bit to the kids, teens and adult classes as well. They are very lenient on days being there and offer makeup days if you do miss any time. They offer other classes too such as sparring and defensive techniques with weapons. Decent size classes with plenty of help also given by the other black belts there.
They do quite a bit of extra curricular activities too such as cookies n milk while watching movies, ugly christmas sweater parties. Secret santa for the more needy families. Lizard day where someone brings in lizards and other reptiles for the kids to see, touch and learn about and even buddy days where you can bring the kids' friends to see if they want to try out karate and see what they are missing out on. Quite a large selection of sparring equipment, weaponry and other items such as shirts, hoodies, backpacks etc. in their pro shop. Very decent pricing on their items in the pro shop. The classes are a little on the expensive side but definitely worth the money.

This place is good for people who are super committed to earning black belt and the sensais are good with the kids, otherwise it is a rip off! They often over charge or double charge for fees then instead of a refund they give you karate bucks to spend in their store. Another thing they do is they try to get you on a contract before you level up then when they have you level up they renew the contract before you realize you will need to come more and spend more. Currently, we have $50 karate bucks we'll never spend and 4 months of credit we will likely never use because our daughter lost interest after graduating from the beginner belts. I've talked to many people who never see this level of fraud from other facilities.

The other annoying thing is not only do they over charge and don't let you out of contracts, they constantly beg for donation or do fundraisers so the sensais can go to conferences. I wish I knew what we were getting into before having to pay so much for services we'll never use. I hope this review helps at least one family take caution. I recommend paying month to month until you know you will stick with karate for years. Or, better yet, start more casually at a less expensive place with no contracts and if you decide you want to be serious and competitive then go here unless you don't mind over spending and being stuck in a contract.

I am a 15 year old girl, and i have been training here @ DePalma's for over 2 years now - I absolutely LOVE this place! I enjoy training with people around me age - I have made some of my best friends here. I have noticed a HUGE difference in my confidence, as well as my overall fitness and end endurance. The instructors here are great - always willing to set time aside to help students out. They have helped me form my new goals of becoming a black belt - I look forward to continuing on in my martial arts in hope of achieving my goal :)

We love our karate class!! Master Jansa is great with the kids. He teaches real karate moves in a fun but serious environment. They also learn important skills like self control, listening and how to follow directions. The school also holds great "other events" for our family to enjoy which also provides the opportunity to get to know the instructors and other families.
