I wanted to attend a yoga class on Saturday afternoon, and Kiva had one scheduled. It was not my first time in a Bikram-style class, so I generally knew what to expect. The studio is comfortable, with cushioned floors, a locker room, and friendly staff (thanks, Taylor!). For first timers: it's hot. No, really, not a joke. Alabama-in-August hot and humid. Take a towel to completely cover your mat, and a hand towel to wipe your face. Hydrate for several hours beforehand in addition to taking an icy cold extra large bottle of water with you to class. Familiarize yourself with the Bikram style before you go--especially if you are used to vinyasa-style classes--and it will help you make it through that first session. I plan to go back regularly, alternating with the other studio I like that offers other kinds of yoga.
